After surgery standards are pain killers and anti-inflammatories. Which ones depend on your doctor’s preference and any allergies you may have. If you are military, expect Vicodin (or Percocet) and Motrin 800mg.
Yea, you’ll get the nice stuff. Even though you’ll feel like a million bucks, don’t stay on them for too long. Opiates can lower testosterone levels.
ask for some good 'barbs

That is a gay thing to say. I don’t care what some study says, if you are in pain then medicate. However, the concern with staying on them for too long is that opiates can be physically and mentally addicting.
A large number of pro athletes and especially wrestlers take a lot of painkillers along with other drugs. Would you say they are suffering from low testosterone? Yes, I know many are on shit as well, but the point I’m trying to make is that painkillers, like marijuana, are talked about like they will take away all your testosterone. This just isn’t accurate in the real world though.
To the OP, ask your doctor about taking painkillers pre-surgery if you can, because if the pain receptors are already covered, you may have less pain after surgery. Now I don’t know how this would interact with the anesthesia but maybe someone who is more qualified on the subject can help you out.

The prof is right here. You’ll almost defninitely get Vicodin. I’ve had 5 surgeries (3 knee, 1 wrist, 1 low back) and I can honestly say the 1 drug that helped me the most was Flexeril. It’s a muscle relaxant, and that baby just made everything feel better. Vicodin never really worked that well for me, nor did Percocet. Luckily I have a high tolerance for pain, I guess.
Good luck with the surgery. All the best…

Sorry to hear about your pec tear. Damn.
Be sure to eat fiber, no matter what they give you, since a lot of the pain meds will constipate you.
Also, for pain and swelling management they may put you on a circulating ice water machine. I had one after my knee reconstruction. It’s surprising how well it helped, although you’re kind of chained to the thing for the first three days.
I know you’re probably being cut on right now, best of luck dude.
b.
I had a weird reaction to Percocet after ACL surgery. It made me super paranoid and I stayed up a whole night hobbling from room to room and looking out all the windows to make sure no one was out there.
If you get a vote go with Vicodan but get off them as soon as you can.
Personally, I’m very anti-painkiller. I do understand you can’t just take nothing after a pec tear and reconstructive surgery afterwards.
What I’d recommend is waiting a while and only taking something if the pain is really impairing your functioning in everyday life.
I’m having difficulty expalaining my reasons for this in English, but it’s always worked for me and I have recovered from several injuries (though non of them quite as serious as a pec tear) much quicker than the doctor expected me to.
my dad got vicodin after his surgeries.
Lorcet is good. Was given it after ripping my arm open last summer. Knocked the pain out and knocked me down but not out. Don’t expect to be motivated and energetic while taking.

This is good advice. I had Lortab elixir (same active ingredient as Vicodin- hydrocodone) after my tonsillectomy in December. It’ll works really well. Just be responsible with it. I took it around the clock (every four hours on the dot, even throughout the night) for four days straight.
At the end, I started getting really bad sweats everytime I took it. What was necessary and pleasurable turned really nasty really quickly. I’m not trying to scare you- by all means, take it. Just bump down to weaker stuff as soon as you can.
151?
painkillers are kinda cool. they gave me percocet after i cut off my right pinky and after my motorcycle wreck (got rear-ended by an escalade when i was at a dead stop!)
i never really sought them out for recreation but they are kinda cool when you have a few left over after your pain subsides. they just make you chill out and relax. good luck with your surgery man!
My wife got Roxicet, which is basically Oxycodone and Acetaminophen.
It whacked her out! She took it for 2 days and stopped.
I dont want to try it, AT ALL.
I have seen too much addicitve behaviors in my family to risk it.
Heal fast, and use caution
Vicodin, Lorcet, Anexia and Lortab are all the same = Hydrocodone with Tylenol. They are Class-4’s and are the most common painkillers. You can refill it upt to 5 times.
Percocet is Oxycodone with Tylenol(aceteminophen) It is much stronger and more likely to be habit forming. It is a Class-2 and CANNOT be refilled, If you need more you need to see the DR. for a new scrip’.
Opiod Painkillers suck the liquid out of your colon and can make you constipated, the Doc may prescribe Docusate Sodium. You can buy it OTC cheaper than thru the Pharmacy.
