Despite your short list of “asks” in the initial post (start a log, post pictures of the pump effect), I get the sense there is more involved if someone wanted to fully commit to this.
For example, it seems clear that you are interested in testing the synergy of a training method that emphasizes muscle pump, while using a supplement that facilitates muscle pump. So signing up, getting some Surge, and then continuing to train using conventional HIT, or a 531 variation, or some other strength focused program probably isn’t what you were hoping for. As someone who has never focused on chasing a muscle pump for bodybuilding purposes, it is hard for me to judge if the training side of this program is even something I’d want to try. Am I going to have to dump all my compound barbell lifts for isolation movements?
Also, I see that it is a 3x per week program. I’ve been doing 2x per week training for a number of years, and at 69 years of age, even that is starting to feel like too much. (And I’m doing a lot more yard work this spring because my landscaping company dropped all it’s residential accounts; that extra physical activity has further compromised my ability to recover from workouts.) So will this program work for someone with more limited recovery ability and work capacity?
You also haven’t said anything about required equipment. I tend to associate HIT with machine based training (though I’m aware that many try to do it with free weights). So are there equipment requirements or preferences that might influence one’s decision to participate?
I hear what you’re saying about 3-times per week versus 2-times per week. I too have pushed twice a week training for the last 10 years. But I now am back to 3 times per week and it’s helped me get more muscle. The primary reason has to do with the way I perform the reps, and the fact that I no longer train to failure.
I believe the Surge Challenge will give you a big, big push in your bodybuilding quest.
You can apply Surge Challenge training methods and techniques to any equipment or even a bag of rocks. Sixty-nine isn’t the oldest in the group. Many people have restrictions to work around, including work capacity, recovery, and medical.
The program is capable of adapting to almost any equipment or physical limitation. The only limitation it can’t adapt to is “I don’t want to change my program.”
You wrote a sincere and detailed post outlining several concerns. Reading through it, I think you know you need a change. And we’d consider it an honor to contribute to making your training life more successful.
If you’re willing to do the program as planned, I believe it would change your life by giving you better recovery and increasing work capacity and strength – in the gym and at work. And I can’t think of a better replenishing drink for a landscaper than spiking cold water with Surge Workout Fuel.
The program is free. Our only requirement is that you fully commit.
