Supreme Court Rules Against Affirmative Action At Colleges

So you think they would benefit from white surrogate parents? This is amazing! Yesterday you said whites are racist, and now you’re saying black children would benefit from being raised by white parents.

Are you in other words saying whites make better parents?

No DickHead, I’m using something called sarcasm.

The problem with using sarcasm in this case, is that it is a true statement.

How about God just destroys the fucking planet and the human race.

Sounds like the best solution at this point.

OK, then, sarcasm aside. This is true.

How is this true?

Large cities run by democrats would suffice.

How is this the educational systems fault, though? Wouldn’t this be more of a community problem?

A solution even for those doing just fine?

You have done nothing and you know nothing about this, and your 2 cents isn’t even worth 2 cents.

Go out in the world and do some shit, or shut up and listen to people that have.

My position is that high achievers will do about as well in a school with lower funding as long as the same materials are being taught.

Then the question is, what makes a high achiever? You nailed part of it with home environment. Other things could be quality of peers, natural ability (some are just smarter than others), proper nutrition…

I see blame for parents and community (quality of peers thing). Government could and does try to address things like nutrition. They also have programs to bus kids to different school districts (I see this helping mostly by increasing quality of peers).

Education is very much what the student puts into it. People have excelled at subjects with no school or teacher, because they are motivated to learn the material. People can come out of a shitty school with a good education if they want it. Perhaps we need to work on getting more people to value education.

It’s priceless, you felon.

You’re a lot more likely to be one than me!

There’s also another crowd to blame: the students! (Gasp!)

I knew you’d say something like that lol.

:man_shrugging:t2: Like what?

Is there something stopping “inner city” parents from forming homeschooling co-ops and groups for children’s recreation if the schools are so bad?

I mean, I think public schooling in the current day is bad generally. Hence we homeschool, which isn’t easy.

And, I’ve never been convicted of a felony. :hushed:

So you should edit that and apologize for speaking a malicious lie.

Agree. I was more getting at how to produce more high performing students. Better parenting, better home stability, better peers, and valuing education. There will be some that are high performing without any of these things, but having these things in place increases the percent of high performers.

Edit: And pumping money into a school district has a minuscule impact on producing a higher percentage of high performers.

In the kids’ defense:

A smart kid born and raised in the ghetto is shit out of luck unless they’re very intelligent. Horrible home environment, missing parents or parents who don’t care, absolutely horrible influences from peers, etc. Sure, a kid can always choose to stay focused on their studies, but most kids/teens will succumb to their environment if it’s that bad.

I’m against AA since it’s anti-merit and openly racist/sexist, but it’s hard to ignore how terrible the learning environment is for most inner city kids. A bigger issue is that AA or more money into education probably won’t ever fix this either. A kid can be smart, but that doesn’t mean anything if his dad is gone, mom doesn’t care, and his cousins and classmates idolize drug dealers and literal murderers who are on the run from the cops.

I’m referencing a person I know with that example haha.

I guess we could blame the parents, community, and gov’t on that part.

The real question, how on earth do you fix this?

Pretty much all the black people I know from the inner city did much worse in school than my black friends who grew up poor in the rural South or escaped the blood diamond wars of Sierra Leone (or the poverty of Cameroon, Nigeria and Angola).

And it was a big difference too haha. Native French speakers from Cameroon did better in college English than people from the U.S. inner cities. How does that happen lol?
