Curious to what everyone’s opinion on this is as there were a couple fellas at work crying doomsday of the U.S. dollar collapsing, so they are turning in all their cash for gold and silver
then i see that its a ploy to get people to panic and buy gold at higher prices
Do the BRICS even meet as a unified body? Do they have a published or otherwise public plan? I know that individual BRICS nations have stated an intention to weaken the dollar (China and Russia in particular). But that is different than the BRICS nations as a collective trying to weaken the dollar. Even China and Russia probably don’t agree as to what they want to replace the dollar with.
Here’s a fun little side-story. I worked with a few South Africans nearly 20 years ago. Somehow we ended up with a real true country bumpkin Florida Woman on the project team, along with people from Africa, Europe and South America. She was a very pleasant gal but not particularly wise about the international world.
One day we got off-task and ended up discussing languages. A white South African man explained that his wife was an Afrikaner who spoke Afrikaans.
After seeing a picture of her, our Florida Woman seemed confused and chimed in with…
Are you in the U.S. now, if so, if the dollar collapses and the U.S. society has gone into chaos, turmoil and violence…how will you get to south africa and by what means are you using for payment to get there?
Live and adapt to the culture, currency, and laws.
If the nations involved in BRICS, created their own currency, thus boosting their economy, I would expect those places to the best to live in. Especially if they don’t mimic America’s garbage chaotic culture war, and they’re just firmly “centered”, if that makes any sense.
If you think politics in the USA produces chaotic culture wars, wait until you get to South Africa and see what their culture wars presently look like.
I think people had the same concerns when the Euro was created. I am not that concerned about USD’s position as the global reserve currency in the short term.
Is the US the power house it was after WWII, no. Is it still an absolute economic monster, yes.
Present, but not the future so it does not matter. Time for USA to fall. Cause if there’s a chance another nation/s will be better than USA, then that’s okay with me.
Both of your imagined future scenarios are pretty unlikely. Despite our current mismanagement, we’re still the only true superpower that can grow our own food, supply our own energy and defend our borders with ease. Our vast interior has the Mississippi River system, which is an extensive inland transportation network unlike anything else on the planet. We have an abundance of key resources.
This all lends itself to a stable economy, which greatly strengthens our currency. If push comes to shove we’re in a better position than anyone else on the planet.
We aren’t yet a nation of woke know-nothings who don’t contribute positively to society or the economy, although that seems to be the trend. A lot of people share your hope that the USA will become weaker, and this is clearly reflected in most Democrat policies today.
I don’t think the society, economy and culture you have in mind is likely to spring up in the places you are talking about.
I want capitalism, but with: more affordable housing, more gov’t funding for natural food,
I also want more funding for the police, get them to a point where they can be trusted. Train them on how to be emotionally intelligent.
America should focus on establishing a culture of education (so a more affordable college education from private schools) and do away with racial wage gap.
Who knows, one day someone could discover a new energy source.
There’s more, but that’s a start. Yet here we are arguing about LGHDTV, abortions, and some other nonsense.
