Supplements to Help Me Study

I’ve been studying studying hours and hours a day for my MCATS (test you take to get into medical school) and will continue to do so until I take the test in about 3 months. I was wondering if there was anything I could take to help boost my cognitive ability.

Right now I take caffeine or chew on nicotine gum when I’m feeling burnt out and that gives me a little extra boost but other than that nothing.

Come on, bro.

It’s one of the most popular running threads on this site… and it’s only a few posts down.

My apologies. I’m actually studying right now and I’ll hope me being braindead will pass as an excuse for not looking down the page lol.

GLOMERULAR FILTRATION RATE AWWW YEEAHHHHHHH!!!

You know what’s surprisingly funny? Listening to some people try to pronounce ‘glomerular’ in class discussions.

with something as important as the mcats, unless you were working in a job that regularly drug tested you, i’m surprised you are not taking adderal

Troof.

OP, many in the BFB thread frown upon Adderall usage, but I think it’s the pig’s tits for getting shit done while loving the process.

Don’t be surprised if you wind up masturbating for like… two hours, though.

Nice. I will definitely need to get my hands on some. Is getting a supply of Adderall as easy as going to my doctor and saying, “Doc I don’t get it… I just can’t seem to focus at all! Isn’t there something you can give me?”

And yes glomerular does seem to twist up some tongues haha. I have this box of over 1,000 flashcards I need to memorize… currently looking at nephron anatomy. Nothing as exciting as this boys let me tell ya. I really wish those machines they had in the matrix that uploaded all information straight to your brain were real.

i’d pass on saying ‘isn’t there something you can give me’

i’d talk about your difficutly:

concentrating
multitasking
completing and following through on tasks/assignments
poor time managment

or just buy them off some kid

Well, Adderall is a Schedule II substance, meaning it has high addiction/abuse potential BUT has legit medical uses… so, theoretically, doctors should be careful about who they hand it out to.

Realistically, though, so many kids are on these things nowadays that I don’t think too many docs particularly care. My doctor was pretty much like, “Ya know, I could give you something for that” when I told him I was working hard to keep my grades up. Why I said I was all set is beyond me…

At your age, I’m not sure if you can pull the whole ‘trouble paying attention’ card… but who knows? Buying them off someone else would certainly be easier, but having a 'script would be pretty clutch for your entire med school career.

I’m actually pretty surprised you’ve never considered this stuff before.

Oh, and if you DO get a prescription, get a tried and true pill like Addies or their generics. There’s a new drug called Vyvanase that your doc might try to put you on since it’s shiny and new, but I didn’t think it was nearly as good as the traditional crap.

No idea why I found this as funny as I did, or why I am about to waste the next 15 mins looking through the rest of them…

I have a friend I can get them from. Should I be worried about saying that on the internet? lol. I’ve taken it before workouts before but never to help me study. I’ve never really needed help studying but this MCAT stuff is fucking tough.

I think the reason I’ve never tried to get a prescription before is I’m on my parents health insurance and they think all ADHD type medication is evil.

About as worried as I should be admitting to murdering that hooker last night. Personally, I think it’s a waste to take them for working out, but different strokes, I guess.

Just hope they don’t back trace any of this shit, else we dun goofed something serious.

It’s your future, man. Do what you gotta do to make it happen.

Waste of time and muscle tissue.

Im surprised a pre med student doesnt understand the catabolizing effects of amphetemines.

omg bonez i knew!!!

OP - u should also take htem before partying. its fun

Lolz. Yay heart health.

OP- If you’re going to the doctor, you could say something about being unable to focus during conversations/social situations. I know a guy who had success with that.

EDIT: Check out the BFB thread too though. I’ve tried a variety of “study aids” and I’m currently doing pretty well with the Neurostim (DMAE/aniracetam/vinpocetine) taken with fats and some coffee. I like Neurostim a bit better than the less legal options because the focus boost is still good and the DMAE helps a lot with CNS recovery from the gym- so it actually benefits the fitness side of things rather than shitting on them with catabolism.

Pre-Med students aren’t gods lol. More than anything they are hard workers. What you know largely depends on what degree you’re using to get into medical school. I myself am a biology major. I took all my molecular classes (where they could have possibly talked about amphetemines) two years ago and I’m definitely rusty in that area now. My classes lately have been in the area of biogeography/ natural selection… larger scale biology topics.

If you get caught with illegally purchased adderal, its a felony in some states.

Plus, med school isn’t that hard to get into. Just take some study breaks, or go for a walk around campus.

I think low carbs combined with studying aren’t helpful

I meant it more from the point of view that a pre med student clearly has a scientific mind. Couple that with an interest in weightlifting to whatever degree (why he’s here) and it made sense to me that a pre med student would naturally stumble across the info. I didnt mean it in the sense that a pre-med student would learn that specific tid bit of info in undergrad.

I’m just a lowly law student, but I agree with CaptainOblivious.
