I’m on week 5 if the power look and I’ve been reading about bands… I coach said if arms are an issue do band push downs daily until you get a good pump… I’ve been thinking that if last-traps and delta are what makes one look powerful… would it be a good idea to add lat pd/chins/face pulls/side raises… I’m guessing 4 sets daily ?
Curious as to what y’all thought or if I’d burn out
Would you say this could be applied to most of the muscles in the body if being targeted for recovery or pump based on the band “weight?” A pseudo target weakness tactic?
Yes it’s a good approach that works with most, if not all, the muscles. It both helps you improve mind-muscle connection (see it as practicing contracting a muscle) and increase the release of local growth factors.
You can do band lateral raise. Of course for that movement, using those inexpensive tubing with handles that you can buy at Walmart in the sporting goods section is best.
Provided that you are getting a good pump you don’t need to change the movement. The key is to really focus on the deltoids, do not let the traps do the work.
My first tip to do that is to focus on spreading your arms as far aways as possible NOT on lifting the arms up. The second tip is raising the arms slightly toward the front, maybe a 20 degrees angle to your body (a front raise being 90 degrees).
Thank you very much, I’m actually finding coming off a few months of trap specialisation I’m struggling to not let my traps get involved, maybe they are more activated or tighter but I certainly feel them more during shoulder work.
