Superman...Metropolis-Sexual?

I can see him playing the human role…but not the Beast role. They better get someone else to handle the mutant side of the role.

And yet, he’d still be a naked man covered in silver flying around on a board which is also made of silver.

Ghost Rider would punk Silver Surfer.

Sorry…but Surfer would kick Riders ASS. Cosmic power, dude.

Unless they plan on some major costume work or Grammer plans on gaining about 50lbs of muscle, I see problems with that.

I would have to believe costume work. Michael Chikilis is a decent-sized guy, but obviously looks huuuuuge in his Thing costume. Did anyone else hear that he had to get therapy after shooting the film because he became so claustrophobic wearing the suit? Wondering if that was just some silly rumor or not (although I can believe it happening).

It could be alot worse guys…this movie has been talked about and in the works for quite a while now.Originally it was to be Nic Cage that was gonna play Superman…now Nic Cage is a great actor but as Superman thats a disaster.

As far as the new guys…I don’t buy the pretty boy Superman at all. This guy is the greatest “tank” of all time and they need someone with the body to pull it off. I think its great to have a good actor as Superman but in reality with that charactor there isn’t alot of personal depth. The things that he does with his powers and what he means to both his city and world are much more important than the depth of the charactor simply because he always does whats right. He’s more a symbol of right than an indepth charactor with weaknesses like Batman or Wolverine. So I think that having a guy that can pull off the look and make it believable is just as important as whether or not he’s a credible actor. At one time Brendan Fraser was linked to this role which i think would have been good.

On a side note I think the casting of Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor is nothing short of genius!

I would hope they would do something CGI for Beast with Grammar’s
voice. I think voice overwise he could definitly pull it off because his voice portrays intelligence which is what the charactor is all about but I agree that if not CGI then its a major mistake.

Man, I thought I had successfully purged Nic Cage as Superman out of my memory and there you had to go and bring it back up again.

Yes, Kesley Grammer is very scary as the Beast. I’m sure his voice would probably be right for a CG character though. Sadly, I think that’s going to be Hollywood’s answer for all of this though. Let’s just make everyone CG and get it over with. You know what though, I’d take a CG Superman over the dork they have playing him now.

As someone who likes movies, I am offended at your statement… CGI? Overused, Overrated, and not nearly as effective as something actually being there.

They can do a whole lot with prosthetics if they want, but when is the last time you saw a CGI character and didn’t think it looked fake?

Golem in the LotR trilogy was the best so far, IMO, and that worked because the character was somewhat stylized, Beast shouldnt look out of place like the Hulk or almost anything from Star Wars CGI extravaganza’s.

Maybe I just give the X-Men Marvel team too much credit, but they can do it sans CGI.

Power Cosmic owns all… but superman was “the chosen one” (a new god) according to Darkseid so maybe silver surfer couldn’t take him.

I agree the whole Hulk thing was a fiasco but in reality your talking about a charactor that the costume would considerably harder to duplicate than it was with Nightcrawler and Mystique. I haven’t seen alot of the Thing’s costume but from what I have seen it looks a little hokey, maybe that will change when I see the movie. All I’m saying is that I’d rather see CGI than some douchebag in a terrible costume.

As far as the Silver Surfer/Superman debate,I’m taking the Surfer…I can’t really think of a Superman bad guy that Supes has beat that Silver Surfer couldn’t,on the other hand we’ve seen Capt. Marvel smack Supes around pretty good which I can’t see him taking Silver Surfer.

Narf

PS Supes is still by far a better charactor than the Surfer.

Warner Bros. rolls out a whole new Superman on Wednesday ? one who doubts himself, ponders his reason for being, leaves his family and might even be gay, if you believe the Internet buzz.

LOL

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No it’s just some anarexic metrosexual that thinks he’s big enough to play in the role as Superman!

I’m bigger than superman…hurray? Bryan Singer has ruined one of my favorite comic book heroes. Brandon Routh…wow GREAT choice for superman, not. Not to mention the actress playing Lois Lane looks like a 12 year old girl with down syndrome. And I refuse to watch an emo pedofile love story.

Can’t believe my girl wants to go see this. This is grounds for a breakup.

Paul Hasenyager has the jaw and look that I picture as being Superman.

At least he looks like a grown man, as opposed to Sup-emo.

What sucks is all of the guys who got Superman tattoos only to have this now be the representation. Shaquille O’neal must be pissed.

If superman is so naturally strong on Earth, how the heck did he get big muscles? (Iso-tension?). He’d only need to use like 1% of his muscle to do the normal daily things that us humans do.

Because Kyptonians just have it like that. Along with that, he was a “normal human” until he became a teenager. That means tons of farm work growing up.

Supergirl should look like a fitness model without ever getting off the couch.

Reeves looked more “masculine” than that for the time it was released. DC hasn’t exactly been known for turning out hits lately like Marvel has. I guess the new Batman movie will prove whether they still have life or not.

As far as casting, the X-men movies did an incredible job with Professor X and even Wolverine (even though he was greatly lacking in muscularity as well, he made up for it in acting ability). They could have even done better with a few roles…like Storm. For some reason Angela Bassett always seemed like the better choice for that than Halle Berry.

Superman is known for his physical ability. I thought the goal was to present someone who was “hyper-masculine”…not just another pretty boy. While Routh has clearly been to a weight room, he isn’t impressive as Superman in my opinion.

One thing is for sure though, they aren’t wasting time on publicity by releasing movie info before the movie is even completed or in post-production and editing.[/quote]

I’m not as much of a stickler for casting but damned if I wasn’t dissapointed they didn’t get some smokin’ Southern minx to play Rogue.

As far as Superman, it might have been harder for him to look nerdy as Clarke Kent if he were really jacked but mainy I think it was due to today’s marketing goes for leaness over size.

When he was a baby didnt he pick up the car when his “dad” was working on it?
