Tons of coffee/ zero calorie energy drinks/ Green Tea

So pretty much too much caffeine, i actually had to stop drinking it because of stress and just too much for the heart.

is that a TDS leg press? if so I used to have one, mine was used and didn’t work so well.

Any way nice transformation.

Yes it is! LOL, they put alot of strain on the back. I love them for hack squats tho. And you can do a reverse hack squat which is great for football training. Just chest down towards the pad and exploding up. It was a staple in my football training days.

great work man! now time for a clean bulk!

For sure

Calories were set at 2400. I used the Carb Codex calorie counter but used a 30% reduction instead of 20%

Protein is set at about 1-1.5 g per lb. So about 250-300g per day. i think it was 60-70%

About 20% Carbs or less - usually under 75g per day

Healthy fats fill the rest

Protein sources are all lean meats, poultry, fish, or shakes blended with fresh berries.
Carbs are timed either in the morning or post workout, sometimes split.
All carbs were fruits and vegetables - mostly green vegetables. All fruits were berries
Fats mostly at night - mostly fish oil. 10g’s per day
My caffeine intake was high

No cheat day for 7 weeks. Than i had a huge smash out cheat day and had one every two weeks once i felt i was lean enough to do that.

That pretty much sums it up. Nothing special, but takes some dedication. I hope that helps.

you ever think of competing?

Inspirational stuff there, especially with all the adversity you had to overcome with your injuries. Thanks for posting this (and thanks to whoever resurrected this thread).

pretty damn amazing man!

Thank you guys so much. Everyday I dream of competing. I used to do competitive powerlifting and loved it. It has become my journey to over come these injuries and compete. This has become a true battle.

I am now starting to gain some ground finally after years of joint pain. It has also lead me down the path osteopathic medicine as a career choice. I will continue to leave updates as long as you guys are interested. Once again thanks for the kind words

nice!!

excellent effort in the face of adversity!
and the results show it

I know its a little late and all, but awesome transformation. Thanks also for the link to the article by Dr. Hyght, I will be thoroughly reading this and this is what I’ll be using myself to hopefully go through as awesome of a transformation as you!

How much did your weight change from the before to the after pictures? And if you remember, when did you begin to see results?

My weight changed about 40 pounds between pics.

I began to see results right away and then each week i would start looking better and better. I eventually hit a plateau at week 7. This was probably because i didn’t take any form of dietary cheat at all. I remember i was stuck at like 196 for a couple weeks. Than the fourth of July came and i went on a binge and ate about 40,000 calories. After that the weightloss started again and i busted down to 194 and then even lower. After that i was lean enough that i could cheat once every 10 days and get away with it.

Hope that helps

Thats great man! How did you initially determine the amount of carbs to cut down to? Was that solely based on Dr. Hyght’s article?

This is actually a very good question. I went the whole summer having no clue how many grams of carbs a person should have. I just knew from that article that 20 a meal was alright besides before bed. Then i read nutrition for newbies parts 1 and 2 and learned that 20% carbs is pretty good for a low carb style. So then i made sure the carbs never exceeded more than 20% of my intake.

At this point i knew where the carbs should have been at from nutrition for newbies but i never had any idea how many calories i should be taking in per day. I just set my calories at bodyweight x 10 because i read it somewhere ( GSD i think). After that it was pretty easy to hit my numbers since i was religiously using Fitday.com to track my numbers.

I eventually read every nutrition article on this site and many others and decided it was time to purchase the precision nutrition package. So i purchased precision nutrition and thats where i’ve been at ever since.

I’m impressed not so much by the results of your transformation (which is awesome) but by what you did to achieve it despite injured joints. Swimming in a freezing pond pulling a buoy!!

It’s also very cool that you found good articles on this site and then just put them to use. Great job.

How are your joints doing now?

What were your training days like; What did your workout consist of?

Super light weight - super high reps. Tons of functional training and anything that didn’t hurt the joints. Its all on page 1 i believe.

Also i can now swim without the pull buoy since the knee is a bit better
