Just jacked my back and hip on a deadlift session on Tuesday. So I’m in rehab right now. I just put in a order for some inzer briefs so when I go back I will still be doing 5/3/1 but at 41 I’m not doing heavy deadlifts or squats without briefs anymore. Just not in the cards for me ITs better to stay healthy. Anyone had any experience with lower back/hip injuries and if so what type of briefs helped you back?
I’ve had 3 surgeries on my back (herniated L4/L5 & L5/S1). I generally don’t squat or DL without at least briefs (metal Ace) for anything over 250ish. I also spent considerable time doing back extensions and weighted ab work. I’ve found sumo is much “gentler” on my back that conventional deads.
My back is rock solid and the only time I feel anything is when my form goes to shit. Then I get pain in my right calf and foot. Then its time to back off, core work and the flexion distraction table at my office. (I’m a D.C.)
Equipment being reviewed:
Titan Centurion Wide Stance (IPF Single Ply) Size 46
I was also worried about getting into the suit alone, but I can get the suit on and be ready to go in less than 5 minutes
That suit needs to be ALOT tighter. I wear 38 @ 220, which to me is pretty loose, but i have a hard time slipping into my old 36… You dont’t need to start tight, but 46 is VERY loose.
I appreciate the concern which is been rose. The things need to be sorted out because it is about the individual but it can be with everyone. I like this particular article It gives me an additional input on the information around the world Thanks a lot and keep going with posting such information.
Best Lifts: Squat 804lbs, Bench Press 451lbs, Deadlift 700lbs
Gear Experience: Inzer, Titan, Frantz
Equipment being reviewed: Inzer Fusion Deadlift Suit
Pros: Pop off the floor is great. Easy on, easy off. Breathing while in the hole is fine. Good and firm in the hips.
Cons: Once the straps are tight it can be hard to get down to the bar. I developed a technique to bypass that.
Comparison: I hated the Inzer Max DL. I felt it was very uncomfortable and did nothing for me. The Fusion gets it right. Usually, my lifts are 30-40lbs lifter during training than they are in competition. Therefore, if the Fusion is allowing me to pull 680 & 700lbs during training I’m expecting big things at my next meet.
Thoughts: It’s a must have in your arsenal if you’re a geared lifter and the deadlift is your lift.

Good info…
I am on the way back and had lifted in a Hardcore 8 years ago. I am thinking about trying the fusion as well as the T-Rex. Hell, the last time I squatted in a meet, all we had was a Z-suit. Thanks and good luck Sir…

Gear Experience: Almost 10 years of lifting in Metal gear. I love the stuff.
Equipment being reviewed: Metal Jack Pro Briefs (size 42)
Thoughts: In an effort to get back onto the platform, I decided to pick up a new pair of briefs. The Jack briefs were on sale (almost $100 off) so I thought it would be a good time to step up my gear.
I initially got a size 40, I was just outside the measurements and figured I could squeeze in. NOT A CHANCE!. They have no give at all. Keep this in mind when your trying to figure out size.
And here is why I’m a loyal EliteFts customer, inside the box was a prepaid UPS mailing label. I just filled out the return slip, slapped on the label and I got a size 42 two weeks later.
It took about 10 minutes to get them on and about that long to get them off. The fit was perfect.
Pros:Jack briefs are very stiff and give great support through the hips and they come up much higher on the chest. I’ve only used them once so it’s tough to get a clear picture on how they perform. I will update in the coming months.
The legs openings are bigger which has always been a problem with gear. The legs are at an even wider angle outward which pushes you knees out. I’m able to widen my stance on sumo DL further than in my ace and still maintain form.
Cons: As with my previous review cost negative with metal gear. The stuff is a budget buster fortunately they have lots of sales and a great return policy.
They also seem to bunch up at the crease of the hips and required adjustments between each lift. That may be because they are new.
Orange? I can see the business/marketing aspect here but orange.
Comparison: When compared to Ace briefs they are very stiff and a lot more supportive however I’ve only lifted in them once so an honest comparison with performance isn’t possible.
For reference I used a size 40 Ace Pro brief and 48 squatter @ 180. My Jack briefs are size 42
hips - 40
waist - 34
thighs - 24
