Sugar + Protein

Someone had told me in the weightroom that they mix sugar with protein powder in a blender and drink the mixture after thier workout. Evidently he said that the sugar basically spikes your blood and forces your muscle to take the protein, so the sugar basically acts as a transport sytem. I was wondering if this was true…
