Sugar Alcohols

What R sugar alcohols in sugar free ice creams/candies?, whats their effect on insulin levels?..anyone

If I remember correctly sugar alchohols have basically zero effect on blood insulin levels. The small intestine lacks transporters for sugar alchohols, therefore they are poorly absorped. The little bit that does get absorped is not converted to other sugars very efficiently and is excreted in the urine. Therefore, sugar alchohols have a lower calorie count than typical sugars. They will not be hard on insulin or your physique but they will cause painful gas and diarrhea at large doses(20-40 grams). They bother me even at lower doses (5-10 grams).

Thanks Ken, My friend just opened a choclate store and now my girl works there, so I have to be careful when I go there, there is a lot of yummy choclate.
