although it is not your biggest concern like everyone said, working on that “Problem” offers its benefits. to fix that you simply need to do more ab stabilization movements, such as planks, ab rollers, impossible pushups, side palnks, even pushups(anything that requires you to stabilize your ab wall for long periods of time). the benefits of these are: better posture, obviously stronger abs, and your core will be stronger in movements such as squats and deadlifts, it will also help for being punched in the stomach during a fight, which hopefully wont happen all too often, oh and of course your stomach wont pop out as much when relaxed.

This is Johnnie Jackson doing deadlifts. His stomach sticks out a little. Do you think he has a weak core?

I am not saying that people should avoid ab training, but if anyone in this thread is still pushing the idea that it is natural for your stomach to look flexed at all times with absolutely no protrusion ever (especially when discussing people who are trying to gain even more muscular body weight which means more food), they need to go study anatomy and simply watch other humans.[/quote]

Favoriting that video. Badass.

Damn he lifted that without much problem at all. X is right, when I didn’t eat because of surgery, my stomach protrusion pretty much vanished. Once I could eat again I went back to where I was. If you eat alot, your stomach is going to expand to accomodate, bottom line.

dude if i had shoulders and a chest like JJ i wouldnt give a shit about pertrusion. plus at that point it isnt a “gut” its a “power belly”

Sorry, you weren’t holding a shoe so we can’t tell.

That’s nothing. I can make my gut go from 35 inches to 42. hehe

If you breathe through your stomach , I think that’d cause you to ‘bloat’ easier. Also, being shorter also helps you ‘bloat’ easier.

I happen to breathe through my stomach, eat a ton of food, drink a gallon of water or more a day, avoid any ab work, and I’m 5’2". Talk about looking pregnant half the day. lol good times

Prove me wrong, but I understand that if you’re over 160 it’s a beer belly. Mass monsters, they’re all fat.

How can I do these?

As far as the “stomach relaxing problem” my guess is that it has at least partly to do with the fact that every time you see a picture of a guy on a magazine anywhere (unless it’s a tabloid pic intended to embarrass), the abs are tensed. When I was a kid seeing FLEX mags at the 7-Eleven, I was under the impression that the guys on the cover looked that way all the time (never mind the part about being dieted down and dehydrated, I was under the impression that their abs/waists looked like that at every moment).

Interesting points about transverse abdominus and posture – my own posture is in need of work, and I’d never considered vacuums as a tool – and I agree that bad posture can give you more of an apparent gut, but breathing deeply is not a bad thing, OP, and your belly will expand and contract w/meals, shits, and air.

That was easy, and with no straps!
