This one annoys the shit outta me. I have a friend thats been lifting on and off for a few years and never does sets under 15-20 reps. Says he doesn’t want to lift too heavy, because he doesn’t want to get too big. !!! How fucking insulting is that?

I lift heavy, because I’m TRYING to get big and he makes it like, if he touched a heavy weight by accident he’ll wake up tomorrow morning HUGE!! OMG WHAT HAVE I DONE?! NOW I’M TOO BIG!! Growing large is a very slow, grueling process and he acts as if it as simple as lifting heavy only once… Sorry for the rant.

It’s not insulting at all. People on here need to chill the fuck out about how ignorant everybody who doesn’t lift is. Yeah, your friend’s perception is skewed, but you seem genuinely pissed here that he doesn’t share your goals.
may not be insulting, but still that’s also for me the most annoying thing one could say…
it just can’t get any more stupid than this (eventhough a lot of people are trying, as above posts show:D)

“I’m gonna do P90x and get better abs than you in 3 months!”

My roommate said this about a month ago. He lasted a week and I now use the pull up tower he bought to hang my clothes on.

“If you want to look like a professional bodybuilder you have to train like a professional bodybuilder”

???

How is this untrue ?

this is actually VERY true.

I thought pro’s did like they do in the videos. Go nuts and kill shit. Chain dips around the neck, 200 lb. DB presses, 600 lb. squats.

Then i worked out with a few. They are really methodical and calculated in their training.

The ONLY exception is legs, i watched a few pro’s kill legs.

Most guys are very content on using as little weight as they can get away with, with strict form, and not much fuss. Smart when you think about it.
Really? Most of the videos of the pros I have watched use shitty form.

hahaha asleep for 8 hours and this thread has blown up, awesome…

precise calculated training? yes mostly but by god what about tom platz leg training that guy squatted then drained his legs with another 5 exercises, as well as drop set after drop set, then cycled for 20miles… talking about the pros killing themselves, one day ill surpass that kind of determintion shit

and yes these quotes are hilarious keep the coming

HAHA right, fucking dweebs. I dont wanna get too big haha. I always hated that shit too. Like, look you skinny fuck, lifting 155 instead of 135 on the bench isnt going to turn you into Ronnie Coleman and if it did, we’d all be “too big.” Shit with that kind of attitude itd be impossible to gain any size.

“Dude, I’m not taking protein and creatine at the same time! I don’t want all that shit in my body!”

jesus huey lewis, if i didnt have dont just stare at it eat it on my avatar wed have the same pic. I was looking at all of the posts and thought that i said something i didnt haha

Yeah well check out my avatar. It fucking MOVES.

We should start some sort of a club.

I mostly get tired of girls saying they dont lift cuz they don’t want to get all “gross and buff.” It displays their dumbness while simultaneously being insulting to someone who wants to get bigger.

Edit: It’s even worse when guys say it.

“I don’t take any supplements because I want to be all natural”

referring to my diet, my mother told me i got sick once because i dont eat “real food”, in her eyes butter and such. jesus its annoying when people say shit like that.

“Hey dude, I’m not gonna do standing exercises cos they are gonna stunt my height!”

“I don’t wanna do leg exercises cos my legs are already huge”

I got more but can’t think of them now.

In fact it IS insulting. As i mentioned, he DOES lift and has been doing so, on and off longer than I’ve been training. Its NOT that he doesn’t share the same goals as me. Its that he is under the belief that he can achieve my goals by merely lifting heavy a few times.

What’s the point of lifting weights if your not trying to get big or bigger? Isn’t that the whole point?

Yeah it’s like everyone swears they are some kind of phenom and they best not touch any weight cuz they will definitely get way too big, it’s like in their genes or something.
