Just out of curiosity, have you been rotating your ME exercise? You know that using westside you can’t go for more than about three weeks with the same one without plateauing right?
I haven’t done any rotating.
Maybe try changing the set rep paradigm. I had a lot of luck using 10x3 in the Waterbury method. I went from 10x3@315 to 10x3@345 over the 4-week program. I’m guessing I probably could have handled 325 or so in the first week, but even so, I felt like it really helped.
Train your central nervous system to explode with fast moves like the clean and jerk, snatch, sprinting, etc.
Another thing I’ve learned about maxing out, is before you max out it is a good idea to do a static or plyometic move (not until failure, it’s just to recruit the muscle fibers or prepare them for the max lift) before hand (60 seconds prior).
The Westside Template max effort wave is something like this:
50% – 1x5
60% – 1x3
70% – 1x2
80% – 1x1
90% – 1x1
95% – 1x1
100% – 1x1
New PR’s – 1x1 in 5# increments
Nothing wrong with doing a few sets of 3-5 to warmup to the 50% point.
At the heavier weights you should rest 3-5 minutes between sets.
Since it appears you are having trouble getting out of the hole – focus some on dynamic effort day – parallel or 2" below parallel box squats. Work on that explosive start. Keep your weight in the 48-56% range 10x2 with 45 sec rest between sets.
Being stuck for 3 weeks isn’t much of a plateau. Be patient. But, keep plugging away.
