im going to compete my first bodybuilder comp in November and i was thinking why not try some sort of new split. i see a lot of strongmen who could if they cut possible be a bodybuilder. so im thinking if i go for the strength building to get my muscles harder and bigger, like say Franco Columbu . How would i go about this split, possibly do 3 days of heavy strongmen lift, bench, squat, dead lift, etc, and then a 3 day bodybuilder split with super sets, trisets, and giant sets
I wrote a program called “Strongman Training for Maximum Hypertrophy” which is esentially a hybrid strongman/bodybuilding routine. In the program you train each muscle group once per week but there is a focus on movements that will have the highest carryover to strongman events, along with progressive/varying intensity for both aspects (gym training & strongman event work).
