Strongman Fitness World Champ

Here is my video from the Arnold Classic. Locking up the title of strongest 185lb man in the world

Nice job! I remember when you posted videos of your log press and your 700lb deadlift. Seriously strong.

I’m curious how tall you are and what your weight has looked like over the years. Also, what weight do you walk around at when not competing? I ask to try and get an idea of what is reasonable and optimal for guys who want to compete in strongman but weren’t born 6’8" (or anything close to that).

Prince Jon Alderson.

Thanks buddy! I’m 5 10. I walk around at about 200lbs. For this show I tried to hold 195 then did my water cut. Making weight was a breeze.

If I can help you get started in strongman hit me up. More than glad to help. New blood is always welcomed

Trying to get into strongman, too. Some of those behemoths on WSM are impressive size and they do insane things (ie truck pull)

What’s limiting you guys/ or what questions do you have? I started out a bro lifter benching 3x a week. So anyone can do this just got to put the time in. I’m an open book. Ask anything

Btw I finally hit that 300+ log!!

My equipment. Or lack there of. I just bought a 110 pound set barbell (including the 30lb bar… ). That’s the only piece of equipment I have. Funds are tight because, as I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I just bought a house (cash).
I used the barbell and I’m sore (haven’t lifted in forever) so that’s nice but I know 110 doesn’t go far especially with strongman. 110 is a joke.

If you want to think outside the box. Get a sandbag to do carries or look for a keg. Fill it w sand. Natural stones and a good option for pressing overhead… Not cost there

Pressing. The pulls and carries I can manage decently enough, but my pressing strength is miles away from where it needs to be.

What does your overhead training typically look like?

Can I ask if you’re anywhere near Murfreesboro?

Illinois?

I mean csulli Jon. My bad

I press twice a week. Once ohp and once bench (close grip) I’m explosive so the killer tricep strength is key. I loosely base my training off cube. Speed rep max style

whats your training split, how often do you train, training experience etc, and thanks for posting in my other thread i didnt realise how crazy strong you are youve inspired me haha

Haha no worries man.

Sun- press/ upper back
Mon- squat
Tues off
Wed- ohp/ upper back
Thursday- deads
Fri off
Sat- events

I’ve been doing strongman for 2.5 years. Went from a 450 pull to 700 in that time. Log from 175 to 305, squat from 315 to 545… This sport has changed my life. I went from a pudgy 220lbs to the 185 world champ. I want to help anyway I can to give back. If y’all want more specific answers let me know as fat as programs and event training

yeah thanks that clears it up alot, was that 2.5 years serious training?, so did you try different programs throughout the two years in other words basically how long did it take you to find what worked for you personally? what were your strengths and weaknesses and how did you fix/improve them? what was your nutrition like during the time that you got your best strength gains? Finally youve seen my other thread and i’m still confused on how to best setup my training split for the competition any advice will be greatly appreciated thanks

I bro lifted- benched 3x a week for 5 years prior. No squats no deads. Then started sm. I was naturally good at moving events. My press was terrible dead was ok for a novice. Stones were ok for a novice.

I started 531 then switched to the cube. Now I write my own programming. The majority of my progress was using my programming. Identifying weakness and fixing it. I was weak off the floor on deadlift… Was stuck at 545 for over a year. Fixing my issues and pulled 700 in about 15 months. It’s a process man identify what you are good at and figure out how to use that to improve your lifts, in combination w fixing weak points. I’ve done this on every lift I do.

Email me any videos you would want help with. I’ll critique them for you…
