Strongest Guy on My Block, The Return

Cowboys v. 9ers, should be a good game. I’m worried today, Vick coming back to the dome, prime time game and I’m losing faith that Ryan can play on the national stage. Could get ugly.

Man I am still sore from Friday’s grip work. My thumbs are still a little tender.

My grip now is fried again, drinking coffee with two hands like a 2 year old.

wow… great imagery. I don’t think my grip has ever felt like that. Hense… my sucky grip. Sounds like what you are doing is going to be very effective.

Yes I hope it is and believe it will. Been a nice change also. Probably in December going to do so specific football workouts, just for fun. Kind of like the DeFranco video I put on G+

Hey Derek, thought I would bring the blood glucose questions over here.

I have my blood work tested quarterly. I am on meds for thyroid and hbp currently. Came off statins about a yr ago. HA1C is borderline type II everytime I get tested. No glucose tolerance testing yet. I have seen an endo in the past for thyroid, not glucose.

I have been testing twice daily, once fasted when I wake up and usually about an hour before bed.
I’m around 100mg/dl fasted and in the mid 80s in the evening. Bodyweight does not seem to affect it. I get the same readings whether I am 200 lbs or 170lbs. Also, high carb vs low carb makes no difference. Currently, I am messing with meal frequency and timing.

On an unrelated/unexpected note? my avg blood pressure has dropped from 128/83 (consistent for 2+yrs on meds) to 107/63. Cardiologist has no idea why. yay me?

If you are not on meds to control Blood sugar I just dont understand why you are required to test this frequently. Is this your idea or your Drs?

Most drops in BP could be related to simple things first, hydration or the meds you are on when was your last TSH? What BP meds are you on?

Dr’s idea, i hate it. i think the cardiologist wants it done to monitor kidneys and pcp checks lipids, tsh, and HCA1 (the last 2.5 yrs i have been running 5.9 - low 6s)

Last tsh was end of May. bp med is micardis hct.

Do you work outside? Cause the HCTZ is a diuretic is maybe why you are dropping to low.

I was just asking about the finger sticks, I know Diabetics who do not do twice a day testing on medication.

nope, sit at a desk all day. It’s weird, it was around 128/83 for 2.5 years then all of a sudden it just dropped to low 100’s/60’s. It has remained like this for the past 4 months. My understanding is the bp med i am on is a pretty big gun. I would love to be able to come off it, plus I feel like the elderly people in the cardio’s office give me stink eye. Like I look too young to be there. lol

i’ve been testing like crazy trying to determine a pattern. i know my pcp will put me on meds the next time I see him and I am trying like mad to avoid it.

There is a straight Mircadis probably what you need to go to and drop the HCTZ, have you felt weird? lack of drive? headaches? dizziness especially after standing up? Its not a big deal to drop the HCTZ part.

You have two different problems with Diabetes type 2, insulin resistance and insulin under production. You may not be able to determine which one you are dealing with or its actually both.

I have this tendency in my family, so that is why I basically eat a modified Paleo for the past 10 years 90% of the time. Cause either way high carb is not going to be your friend.

Me personally if you are steady with your HA1C at 5.9-6.0 I would just decide on a diet that works for you that is not mixing your high carb with high fat. Maybe do a fasting finger stick once a week and a post meal finger stick once a week and trend that.

I hope Romo gets hit by a u-haul.

Same day as Charles blew his ACL and ended my TN fantasy season.

I am never talking shit again.

Yes we did, however it was all because Romo came back in with 2 rib Fx’s and Pneumothorax. Yes a puncture lung for you non-medical people.

Still Romo haters will say they should have left Kitna in.

Plus our defense adjusted.

Ill take a lucky win any day, cause normally we are on the losing end of those.

so Romo is 50/50 on the season. 1 game his is solely responsible for the loss and the other he’s responsible for the win… which one will it turn out to be for the season? you think the boys win their division?

Gotta give Romo credit, hes showing his toughness, cracked ribs collapsed lung? WTF, a collapsed lung (or was it punctured) sounds awful…

[quote]MattyXL wrote:

Not collapsed lung no way he could have even walked with that. However a pneumothorax is a puncture that basically lets air escape out of the lung and is between the lung and the lung covering, makes it very hard to breath.
