Like shit… I gotta shower and get a sticker on my car or I’ll hate myself forevr

^ Sorry Beans, still dont figure how you got a day off in the middle of the week.

Well amazing how not sleeping on my left side has helped my shoulder. I wake myself up now when I am sleeping and almost roll over on my left side. Still have pain but the strength is starting to come back.

^I’m with you Beans. Some of the videos are funny but some, like that one are WTF? Why?

DJ- Damn hoss, some crazy training the last couple of days. If your goal is to feel youthful you should be going through puberty again soon with that kind of training.

^ There was an article a few days ago about body adaptation and progressive overload. The one using the tanning as an analogy. I think combining my training efforts in a more planned, thought out, joint saving approach will be the best for me long term.

Tomorrow going to take off from working out, since I have lifted last 3 days. Thursday going to do another heavy day, maybe at gym maybe at home. Friday and Sat more circuit with cardio.

We will see where I am at by January, hopefully by then I can drop back to 2 days circuit cardio and 3 days heavy lifting. Just have to see.

What is going on DJ? Didnt think I’d find you over here in the Over 35 forum huh? Never been over here before but now i know where to find you (besides the NFL threads of course)

You’re trying to drop a little weight and be a little more athletic too I see? Nice

^ Yea this is my second log, first one was all 5/3/1 and my getting strong as possible log.

This one has moved to the get in better shape log. Beans and Ct chocula come over here also.

I am doing a hybrid Xfit type work outs, dont do the pull-ups (cant with my shoulder anyway), but I like the other stuff like box jumps, oly lifts etc.

At least now when I do them I dont feel like I am going to die afterwards and I am actually starting to get that runners high.

thats cool… with the xfit stuff you’re obviously staying away from pull ups, muscle ups and OH squats huh?

what about KB swings? Ive recently been doing them as a warm up and I like them a lot. I’ve been doing Goblet Squats followed by either one arm or both arm KB swings and its a great warm up IMO.

Yep no pull ups, muscle ups or OH squats. Even though I think the OH squats can be a good thing in the future.

KB swings I do them to parallel to the floor, I do not agree with how high the want you to swing. The will work the lower back and hammies if done correctly, I think it is good accessory exercise.

I mean really this is just circuit training in a group. You know how hard it is to try to do something like this in a regular gym. Taking up a bunch of stations etc.

I am having good luck leaning up and increasing work capacity by following the guidelines of Thib’s Six weeks superman (or whatever) workout with additional guidance from his complexes for strongman equipment. Basically complexes focusing one movement at a time. A couple of the workouts (hams and chest) I do in the gym, the others I do at home with tires, logs, whatever. The chest just takes one bar in a power cage but to do the hams I may use up to four bars, power cage, and Oly platform.

If I am not doing some type of complex I have been doing Oly lifts, mainly clean and press - power and full.

I also have been training twice a day and started the 60 day challenge as well (on day 16). I only have this kind of time in the summer so I have to make it count.

My shoulder was giving me fits before I started all this but is fine now. I credit the cleans and press paired with band pull-downs and face pulls paired with chins for that.

^ Thats cool, do you have a link.

The big dog Alpha and his warrior workouts always looked like they would kick your ass and be something to work for. My issue is about availability and family.

yeah I hear you on the full extension overhead KB swings… Its their new thing in order to “regulate” the lift so that they can use it in the crossfit games… I usually do the eye level swings but I was doing the overhead swings with the double hand grip. Its adds a little bit of shoulders into the top portion of the ROM which I liked.

I wish my gym had some boxes… I think I’m just going to make my own to use at the house. Make it so that its a 48inch and then can be flipped on its side to be a 18 or 24inch (for my girl to use)

I like doing box jumps. Are you doing cleans? Ive started working on my clean form and its not that great hahaha. they’re really technical

I imagine this is what you look like after your conditioning workouts

lol

You know that was the other thing that kind of has me hooked going here, they do a lot of cleans from the floor and hanging.
Explosive pulling exercises I really need to do more, to many years of pushing exercises (bench etc). I have really improved on my technique for cleans and I believe with time can start doing some serious weight.
I am one of those type of guys when I work out dont want to break it up, so doing certain things and the gym and then coming home to do more just is not going to cut it.

Have to watch the video when I get home, cant see video at work.

Wow. Greg for one I havent been that thin and emaciated since I was 6 years old.
Second I am in better shape than that, or at least I am smart enough to know when to stop.

hahahah its pretty hilarious though isnt it?
