She can dress in camo and hold a gun in front of a cameraman?
Man, she must be tough as steel.
I realize that this whole thread is (I hope) something of a joke, but: there is nothing tough, manly, valiant, or remotely courageous about using a firearm in a non-combat setting. It is slightly dangerous; so is driving on a crowded freeway. I shot a shotgun before I was bold enough to ride a roller coaster. My niece is a vegan who’s afraid of ghosts and she absolutely loves to shoot. She’s damn good at it, too.
It takes infinitely more sack to go skydiving or bungee jumping or visit a Mexican border town. Or come out of the closet. Or do a million other things that people do every single day.

Fucking photo ops being used to determine the masculinity of a president. You could use military service as one measure. If so then Bush Sr. was the last “man” we had in the White House.
President Military Service
Obama None
Bush II Air National Guard - never deployed to Vietnam.
Clinton None
GW Bush Naval Aviator - Distinguished Flying Cross recipient
Reagan Army Reserve - Filmed training movies during WWII - never deployed
Carter Naval officer - Submarine Corps
Ford Naval Officer - Sea based during WWII
Nixon Naval Officer - Born a Quaker and could have been exempted from service

Truman Army Artillary Officer - WWI served in France

The photos were a joke. Nobody thinks Obama’s gay because of his pitching mechanics (though that is absolutely terrible form) and nobody thinks Bush went Larry Craig on anybody.
I think he could be gay…I always like to think the worst of those who do not agree with me politically.

No, I rather think it’s what happens when I am in a silly mood. But thanks for participating. At least you tried to answer the question correctly. And for that you move to the head of the class.

She grew up in relatively poor family on a farm. If you knew anything about her beyond the caricature portrayed in the mainstream media you’d know she is a strong, independent woman.

Come out the closet? So Hillary Clinton is not tough then.

That caricature grew out of her very, very real inadequacies.
also, after reading McGinniss’ terrible book about her, I know far more than I’d like to. And if even half of it was true, “strong, independent woman” are not the words that come to mind.
Anyway, she’s not courageous or tough for having shot at a rabbit. I think we can all agree on that. TB’s point about bearing children may be on the mark though.

The left loves to work this into various conversations.
It also takes courage to pull your pants down in public.
So where does that leave us again?
This made me laugh.
Yeah, both of those things take more courage/boldness/whatever than firing a damn gun, which takes literally none.
Edit: it leaves us with the conclusion that having pulled a trigger while wearing camouflage pants is neither an accomplishment nor an act of courage/valor/masculine bravado.
Which is a good conclusion to come to, because it’s true.

OK, I’m realizing you’re not bright enough tonight to figure this out all by yourself for whatever reason so Daddy Push gonna put you on his knee and tell you story 'bout how 'tis.
This discussion, obvious to anyone not drunk or stoned, had drifted towards which candidates appeared more effeminate. Several photos were posted of Bam in somewhat effeminate poses - OK, got it so far?
Thennnnnnn our proud resident of all that is Dumb and Dumber decided that a more effeminate pair than McCain and Palin could ne’er be found in all the land. The problem with that is McCain and Palin both are the very antithesis of effeminate (she is a very feminine woman but certainly not effeminate) by any reasonable person’s definition.
Now folks, don’t make me pull your short bus over again for a fuckin tutorial.

Guns don’t change whether or not someone is effeminate.
But anyway, fair enough: you’re right about this, she is not effeminate. Bam really isn’t either though. I don’t think an effeminate guy could be elected president.

That all depends doesn’t it?
It takes more courage to walk into a Hell’s Angles meeting and pull down your pants than to do it in a ladies Bingo night at St Francis Hall.
And…it takes greater courage to use a firearm against an attacker at 3:00 AM than it does to shoot at a target on Saturday afternoon with your pals.

Yeah, he’s effeminate.
Thin wrists.
Homosexual rumors.
Never played a sport in his life other than that game they play in Kenya where they try to touch a goats balls. But you see that isn’t too manly either…
He’s obviously bisexual, but…he was on Jon Stewart so he’s way Kewl.

Jeeze you far righties got your paranoid schizophrenic side a really going today. I thought it was QUITE obvious that he said you can’t think it is important to be manly and support McCain because he had a woman as his running mate. I thought that was plain as day. You respond by throwing out all these pictures of Sarah Palin in hunting gear as what a stupid comment that was! No, it really wasn’t in hindsight, (though I didn’t much think of it because this whole thread has turned stupid as fuck with the pictures) as clearly if you think being manly is really important as a President then why the fuck would you vote for a woman vice President? “She fucking hunts dude. She’s essentially Chuck Norris!”
I wasn’t coming out to anyone’s rescue, just pointing out the VERY obvious comment made that apparently threw everyone for a loop because duh, John McCain war hero uber manly! It wasn’t exactly calc 3.
Still a good chance to point out that Sarah Palin, a moron who was almost one step away from the Presidency, can indeed kill animals, and big government Obama happens to not exactly be Bear Grylls despite having his wife constantly remind us that our kids are fat as fuck.
Anybody else not give a rat’s ass how “manly” their leader is so long as they perform adequately? This all seems wildly inane and akin to two eight year olds arguing about whose Dad can beat up who.
While confidence, vision, and will are traits that manly would consider “manly” that coincide with being a good leader, overlap does not mean one equals the other…hell, give me a president who redecorates the interior of the White House and makes his or her own flower arrangements if they get the job done.
