Strong Little Snapper

Nice squat. I have to go on the record and say I wouldn’t slap your ass. My wife would leave me battered and bruised.

If you angle your feet out a bit more, maybe get a couple inches closer to the plates and spread your knees, you will likely find it easier to get in the initial squat position. Doing that will also give you a more upright back angle.

That being said, check out this clip of Lappi. Look at his leg angle and hip height as he starts the pull at 0:17. You are not far off. He weighs 75kg I believe.

All this virtual ass slapping. I feel so special.

Cavalier: I always take my time stepping up to the bar to squat. Just mentally preparing.

Mathineer: I’m not a sumo puller but want to conquer this lift. Definitely not there yet.

Bulldog: I’m hurt.

Git: Thanks for that vid. I know you’re right that I have the leg length to widen my stance and get in a better squat position to start the pull. Plus, that would shorten the pull length a lot. But I need more hip strength. Perhaps with the wide-stance squats there will be some carryover.

Tomorrow: cardio in the form of vacuuming.

yep, you only live once!!

Hey that guy slapped your toosh…jealous

Great lifting Snap, how do you feel about your meet?

Pardon my language…but fuck the bar. Think of Sumo as one big hip thrust…

I think if you just try to push your knees out a lil more, and lower your eyes some, your shoulders and hips will be in the right spot. You arent too bad with the hips as it is. The optimum angle on the thighs is around 45 degrees.

Open your stance about 1 inch each side, and pull out on your knees more.

One way I get my lifters to figure out their correct starting position is to put 135, or less on the bar, start at a lockout, then try to put the bar down slowly with out bending your back. You force yourselves to put the bar down by pushing your knees out and pushing your hips back.
This is the reason many people are better at their second/third deadlift reps. They lockout the first, then let the bar pull them straight down, and once they hit the ground tween reps, they are in their perfect pulling position.

I would love to make a trip out and show you this shit too.

I do try to keep this in mind and feel like I’m doing it. Perhaps not, though. I find that what I think I’m doing and what the camera shows are often two entirely different things.

I want to be more upright with more thigh angle to start the pull. As it is, my thighs are basically parallel to the floor, which means I’m not getting the max leg drive with this lift.

Interesting exercise. I will try it. I really need a sumo expert to help me with my form in person. Sumo is not my coach’s thing.

Great! When should I expect you?

And are your meet vids up yet?

Joe: Regarding the meet, I have a long way to go with my squat. I’m still stumbling out 170 lb. I fear for my bench. But I feel like I will be able to pull a decent DL in six weeks. Bottom line is that I’m excited as always. I get a real rush from competing. Even though I’m always the smallest and often have the lowest weights.

You know,I’ve never realized or even considered it, but i DEFINETELY have my hips way high for dl’s…probably why i’m banged up right now! :{

that’s a great idea for the set up too ,LSUPOWERDC.

you’re doing incredible as always snap.

A couple of friends have video of me, I am trying to get them but my comp at home died and the one at work might not work well so I am trying to get them to post on my youtube or facebook and then put them on here.

Sorry :frowning: But, I prefer not to have my “Alpha female” hurt me.

Squat depth was perfect. No unecessary depth but no danger of red lights either. Spot On.

And your form? Brilliant as usual.

Aren’t we strange being able to see beauty in something as mundane as bending down?

great work snap. Do you squat and deadlift in the same suit? is it singleply?

That was a nice dead. Sorry i missed the community ass slap.

It’s not too late. I know you’re far away and your slaps take longer to arrive.

Separate suits. Titan squat suit and Inzer DL suit. Both used. Single ply. That’s all my fed allows.

Decent benching day today. For me, that is.

Started out like a good girl with cuff stuff.

Flat Bench
10/45 slow
7/45 fast
5/60
4/65
3/70
2/75
1/80 loose shirt to one board
3/85 full range of motion
3/90
3/95 last rep was the best because I was cued to drive with my legs. When will I learn?

I have real hangups that I’m benching two-digit numbers in a shirt. A triple at 86% of bodyweight.

Reverse Bands to Two Boards
5/135
5/150
5/160

The bands did most of the work off the chest. But I could definitely feel the weight increasing during the press. Taking the liftoff with that much weight scares the shit outta me. I wimper a bit. Can’t help it. Yet.

Bentover BB Rows
8/45
5/65
3/5/75

Finished it up with more cuff stuff (internal/external rotation), triceps, and rear delts.

Time for my piano lesson. Don’t ask.

piano lesson?

Piano is fantastic. Good for you. I’m a playa myself.

You have to start trusting Ksnap. You have to start starting up, without fear.
Rehab is a bitch but your ready so…

I’m learning this, too.

Damn, you are strong.

Lol at all the ass slapping.

Cool conversation about form, I’m learning a lot
