Its perfectly normal to be concerned about an recently repaired injury. over time you will start to stop thinking about it.
I can’t even picture how to get leg drive for bench so you are way ahead of me in that regard.

those reverse band should help build the confidence on the bench, you can hold the handout and press thru the lockout, you’ll get that weight. “Future method”, in the future you will be pressing that weight.
Leg drive on ANY rep is a wonderful thing. I’ve only felt that on a couple of occasions, and can’t reproduce it.
That looked like a solid training. Joe is right: over time the shoulder will strengthen and you’ll stop thinking about it.
I have no musical talent myself, but appreciate it in others. Play on!

I have found learning how to drive with the legs to be quite tricky. Especially 'cause I’m a bit prone to ass lift, which is a big no-no on the platform. The tension has to be inherent in my setup, Joe, so that my ass is just grazing the bench throughout the whole process (handoff, descent, press). Always seems like my legs are too long. But O has obviously successfully figured this out. And her legs are longer than mine. So I persevere.
I know I’ll get over the mental fear in the bench eventually. And you’re right, Lil Power. Those reverse bands definitely have helped me learn how to hold more weight. Same with reverse bands in squat. Gotta get the body used to the shock it feels with more weight or else you’re doomed on the lift. The whole CNS training thing.
Thanks for the compliment, Alexa. I sure don’t feel strong. To be honest, I feel like the golfer with the 40 handicap most of the time in this sport. But it’s not for lack of trying. I figure you only live once and you might as well do what you enjoy and do it as well as you can.
You doing women’s?

My coach would like me to, I believe.
Honestly, I’m not even in the ballpark numbers-wise. So I would have to get over that and just fix it in my mind that the purpose would be for PRs and to have the experience. I would be head to head with Sioux-Z unless I cut to the 105s. Or do the new weight classes take effect by then? But I am an M1b and she’s M1a. Is that distinction made at the national level? Just musing out loud.
Im not sure on all that nonsense. Wa just gonna say if you were going and neededhelp I will most likely be going and can help out, depending on when my gals are lifting.

You have to start trusting Ksnap. You have to start starting up, without fear.
Rehab is a bitch but your ready so…

Good advice, but I realize it’s easier said than done. I’m trying to work my way back from a back injury, and I still haven’t been able to trust it yet and just execute a lift without being cautious about it. I imagine it’s even worse when it’s a shoulder problem, and you’re holding the weight above your chest and head!
But keep with it, you’ll get there. We’re all pulling for you.
What’s ‘women’s’?
Women’s Nationals.
Thanks for the offer, LSU. That’s incredibly kind.
Ugh! Injuries are an absolute mental hurdle. Of course I’m going to say, don’t let the numbers hang you up - but you’re an athlete, and this is your process. I know you’ll find a way to move past this.
Nice work in here!
Those are the hands of somebody who works hard and often.
Way back in grad school, I went to the Strength and Conditioning coach to ask permission to lift in the athlete’s weight room. I gave him all kinds of reasons why I needed to lift there. He patiently listened to my story, and in the end, all he said was “Let me see your hands.” I was lifting there the next day.
Awesome story, Carl.
Today’s training: DL
RDL
8/45
Conventional DL
5/95 Double overhand
5/115
4/135
3/155 Mixed grip
2/180 belt
1/210 full gear . . . getting me into this suit is like trying to stuff a twinkie into a condom
1/230 (2.1x bodyweight)
3/210
The 230 came up fine but everything about the setup was wrong. I was trying too many new things at once. And I hyperextended the lockout. Plus, a guy walked RIGHT BEHIND ME as I initiated the pull. My coach said something to him, which is on the vid. What’s the big deal about walking around a piece of equipment when someone is obviously setting up for a serious pull? And you gotta love the music.
Wide-Stance Squats
5/95
3/5/125
These taxed me. I’m practicing the three-step walkout. I plan to try this stance in full gear on Monday. Just for fun. Actually, I plan to squat in my DL suit Monday since it’s tighter. Then did seated lat pulldowns, weighted hypers, and paused DB shrugs.
Nice pull Snapperoni!
“That guy”-- What a f’in douchebag!!!
That guy sucked.
Nice pull. Do Women’s.
In that guy’s defense, the gym was packed, he really had no other way to get where he wanted to go.
Wow, fantastic pull! You looked as though you had a lot more in the tank.
nice pull and you did have more to go!
cute hair cut too - is that the pixie look?
