Strong Little Snapper

you said not so long ago that your shoulder rehab was progressing well. it WILL take some time for your shoulder rehab to get caught up with the rest of your strength, though. the bench shirt (in the longer term) could be a great idea… it might well support your shoulder muscles in ways that are helpful.

i picked the wrong sport. with my bad ankle mobility i’d be much better suited to a sitting back with vertical shins type squat. which is why i don’t do them. if i did them and got good at them then i’d never go back to the dreaded front squat and it would be byebye to olympic lifting :frowning: it isn’t so much about that, though, is it? it is about doing something you love…

well… i don’t know… typically i only stick with things that i’m actually fairly good at. this is the first thing i’ve become passionate about and persisted with despite sucking really very badly. and… you don’t suck. so there.

I don’t think so. You are on a great journey, lifting a lot of weight, and you are hella-strong for your size. This is something to be proud of. So what if your bench lags a bit? What do you lose by going up there and benching as well as you can?

this times a few thousand…you have a new shoulder too  But congrats on ALL you gains-

hey Snap, awesome marks from the suit, hope you have some up higher on the hips too, it needs to be tight there also.

Bench, are you only going to 1 brd, or have you tried 2 and 3 boards also to break in the shirt?

Normally not all 3 lifts gain at the same time, your DL is going great, you love squatting, give the bench some more time.

Some (I’ve seen mostly females do tis) geared lifters will open bench raw to stay in the meet and do 2nd and 3rd attempts in the shirt.

Those are some pretty impressive cuts, got to love the war wounds.

That new avi really shows off your beautiful smile.

Nope, there isn’t another better sport for you. Whatever you’d try, you’d pick apart and beat yourself up about. Might as well stick with powerlifting.

slap slap slap

Come on, Snapper. You never cut me any slack when I start sliding into self-pity. Also (I grit my teeth writing this) pound for pound, you’re stronger than me.

what are you doing to improve your lock out? anyway, great work in here, like the new avi.

Textbook raw squat form in your avi in my opinion.

So much more aesthetically pleasing to look at than the “Ostrich taking a dump” wide stance squat everyone does these days.

Wisdom, encased in humor, well done lady. You are like the Buddha ninja in Snap’s log.

How is your knee cave issue doing? (I learned a new exercise for hip abductors if you’re interested.)

What was your best raw bench before your injury? And what exactly was busted? (fyi, nerves take 9 months to a year to regenerate, so you might not have even fully regained your mind-muscle connection to your shoulder until just recently)

In my un-biased pov, i.e. non-PL pov, you should train upper body like a bodybuilder, not like a powerlifter. You are training for performance when you should be training to build up muscle, tendon, and ligament strength/size. My .02.

I like the new avi too. You look strong, focused, and feminine. You are looking super cute lately, if I may say so. Have you gained a pound or something?

@kimba, you are hilarious!

What is this self pity sounding shit? I won’t repeat what everyone else has said about this being a journey blah, blah, blah. I’m feeling much the same myself this week and having a very difficult time recovering mentally from last weekend. My short term solution is to not think about meets, keep the gear off and just do a bunch of raw shit, stupid things and have a bit of fun. That’s the problem with cycling up for meets, you have to be intelligent. I feel like stupid for a bit. Sorry I have no words of wisdom. I’ll come have a cup of tea at your frustration party.

Julie is so freeking tough.

I do like the new avatar too

Tough to look at maybe. I wasn’t feeling all that hardcore when I spent Saturday fighting tears and trying to suck it up.

I just feel Snappers frustration.

I think all of us do.

Its part of human nature to focus more on our weaknesses than our strengths. I went 8/9 at my last meet and my first thoughts were of why I felt like I was so much weaker than most of the people there.

I’ve got no words of wisdom really, just that the feeling of getting it right is worth the struggles.

Damn, after reading further... I feel like a jerk.

We all have off days, sometimes weeks… but things will come around.

Yep. I just need more time to get stronger raw and to break it in.

I can’t imagine putting gear on mid-flight. That would make me a nervous wreck.

I want to be Kimba when I grow up. She knows me better than I know myself.

Board presses, floor presses, and reverse bands.

I fear this imagery may cause me problems in the cage next week.

I’ve gotten fat.

Yep. Cup o’ tea is waiting for you.

A) Lat Pulldown

B) HLRs . . . sloppy though they are. Awaiting critique from Ms. Nadia, the expert, in PW compound.

Sorry about your DL day. Mine went the same. I actually cut my fail video. I went back to the bar a third time and yanked on it to no avail. I felt a little bit like a cartoon character. I’ll see if I can stomach posting my strike 3 tomorrow. I like how you get mad though, pulling for reps is healing.

Those HLRs look great. They’re full range of motion, no excessive swinging. The little bend in your knee doesn’t effect the integrity of the move. And your feet are flexed–I think that makes the move harder. if you point your toes you should see an instant improvement in your dynamic hamstring flexibility.

I found a shirt for you.
