I see a smiley emoticon here. Yep. I do.
I love to squat.

Share the love. Please.

Congratz on the newest DL PR - you really should do the state meet raw and get those records up on the board. Then you can be drug tested and put al those rumors to rest… hehehehe
x2

Do a raw one for the grins.

Loved your DL vid. Very funny!!

As far as the knee sway goes, I noticed I had some knee and hip sway on heavier attempts a while back and I fixed it by moving my feet out just an inch or so. (I think someone may have already suggested this). The wider stance wasn’t noticeable, but the difference it made was.

Congrats on the PRs.

Yes, I posted the video because I thought it was funny to watch. I look like a dolt. Maybe because I am?

Regarding the foot placement. Isn’t the pull distance increased by moving the feet out more? I’m hesitant to change anything at this point (six weeks out from a meet), but there’s definite instability in my legs in that position.
Having legs exactly vertical gives the LONGEST possible pull distance. Moving the feet wider shortens it. (only marginally for conventional, a lot for sumo since the feet go a lot wider). In my view, for conventional, the feet should be as wide as possible within comfort and short of having the thighs interfere with the hands during the pull/lockout.

I can understand not wanting to change close to a competition, but I think you should experiment with a wider stance sooner or later. Not much worse than having a max pull swaying around as you try to finish it.
Keep up the hard work.

So? Will you be doing any squats with a Sandbag soon?
No.

Why are you waiting until next December to compete raw? Break state records NOW! =D
I like to train [mostly] raw and compete geared. I wanna break the geared squat and DL records this summer.

Ahh, a man who is delusional.

Thank you for this. I will move my stance out a bit.

Squat day today. Everything felt heavy. My CNS must get used to the weight on my back. And soon. I’m squatting like an 80 year old, as my video shows. Very, very sluggish. I loosened up my belt one notch, which helped with my ability to breath.

Squat
5/45
5/95
3/120 belt
2/140
2/185 knee wraps and suit straps down
3/195 to parallel only
2/200 was supposed to be 3. I yelped for help in the hole on the third rep.

Geared Reverse Band Squat
3/230
3/235

RDL
5/95
3/5/145

GM
3/5/90

Situps on an incline bench, weighted hypers, lying hammie curl, good girl/bad girl.

Gym bars. Gotta love the consistency of the O rings.

Cuts from my squat suit today.

Impressive.

nice yelp - more like a squeek

maybe add in heavy walkouts during your next raw training cycle to keep the CNS primed

ouch. wow, that suit does cut into you. nice looking squats, though. there is no way in hell my wrists are smaller than yours.

Are the marks on your legs bruises or are they just like skin pinches?

Seems like there’s a lot of pain involved with geared lifting.

I’m late, but congrats on that 225 DL. You are looking really strong. Do you think focusing on the sumo is what is helping you with the conventional?

Skin pinches that result in bruises.

I’m not sure what’s up with my conventional DL. I’m not following any plan other than adding in the sumos. Each week I’m pulling two progressively heavier conventional singles. That’s it. I’ve decided to pull 230 lb. raw this Friday and then go geared for my final four pulling sessions before my next meet. I will go back to my old worn-out DL suit since my new suit is too much for me right now. If I can get 25 lb. out of my old suit, I’ll be thrilled.

Benching today. I hope I can get my new shirt broken in. Last week, I couldn’t touch one board with a weight that is more than I’ve ever successfully hit in a meet. In some ways, it’s just ridiculous to put a bencher like me in a shirt.

Nice pulling!

good work.

and nice squats- ouch for the suit marks,
and cute underoos.

“Damn, that’s HAWT!”

Great pulling KP. Ever thought of getting rid of the gear? Looks painful and time consuming. Its ok to come back from the dark side. We’ll take you back.

Look at that 225 going up! That right there is my lifetime DL goal. I’m happy for you, but very jealous all at once.

Thanks. And I understand. I feel the same way about women who can put up serious bench numbers. Thrilled for them on one hand. Green with envy on the other. It’s human nature.

Yes, today was such a day.

I never could get the new bench shirt to touch my chest today. The amount of weight it takes to touch is more than I can press. So I put on the looser shirt and FAIL. The bottom line is that my raw bench is terribly weak. I haven’t made any gains since the March meet and may have, in fact, lost strength.

My inclination is to totally blow off bench for my meet in five weeks. Like do one press on the platform to keep me in the game. Or go raw with light numbers. And really only focus on squat and DL. Which I should be able to put up good numbers for. I just don’t know.

Sometimes I just feel like I’m barking up the wrong tree. Like there’s a sport I’d excel at more and find less frustrating. I’ve never been able to bench worth a damn. And tearing up my shoulder sort of sealed the deal on that.

Picture is to remind you what you would be losing, should you return to the light side…

I don’t think so. You are on a great journey, lifting a lot of weight, and you are hella-strong for your size. This is something to be proud of. So what if your bench lags a bit? What do you lose by going up there and benching as well as you can?
