Let me know how the Velocity treats you, are you going to pull cdl or sumo with it? I’m following another gal who just got a Velocity, she said the legs were really really tight, but had to have the hips taken in a little. She got the same size as her Super centurion but fit was different.

Serious issues with the Velocity. Way too tight in the thighs and somewhat tight in the hips. Couldn’t get down to the bar without seriously rounding my back. Same size as my Centurion.

Yeah, I know I’m a cheater. But I train largely raw. And may compete raw in the future. If only to break some USAPL state records.

Today’s training: Deadlift

Didn’t really do much in the DL department other than pull a few singles and try out the new suit.

RDL
8/45
5/95

Sumo DL . . . moved my grip in as LSU suggested.
5/135
3/175 Could barely break the first rep off the floor with a narrow grip

Conventional DL
1/205 Set up wrong and suffered for it lifting the weight . . . very slow
1/225 PR!

Still knee sway but came up pretty fast for a PR pull.

Conventional DL with new Velocity suit
1/225 Video for humor’s sake . . . couldn’t get down to the bar with a flat back let alone any kind of arch . . . eventually pulled but didn’t lock it out.

Tried for 240 but couldn’t get a flat back and was unwilling to pull with a rounded back

Took straps down and still couldn’t hold an arch.

Argy.

Wide-Stance Squat
5/95
3/5/120

Lat pulldown, DB shrugs, HLRs. I’m definitely getting better at the HLRs. Can get my legs much higher.

Congrats…awesome work snap!!!

I laughed and laughed at that video. I have a suggestion. Try pulling with the belt off or unlatched. Several weeks ago I tried pulling conventional in my suit for a laugh. Fuck me. I just about blew my eyes out me head. I couldn’t get shit off the floor. However, when I took the belt off, it was all good. It came up easily. It may be a good way to break it in. Either that and just stop resisting sumo. You know you want to.

I think I many try a velocity next.

Nice pulling Little Lady

Don’t feel bad. I always did wonder how anyone could reach down with a suit. Squat and bench suits made sense, the weight compresses them, but how could a DL suit work?

Now that I think of it, I’ve seen guys approach the bar, stretch their arms up to the ceiling, then fling down and grab the bar. Is that the way to get down there if you have a suit?

awesome on the 225!!!
and the suit scene was brutal. Join me on the raw side, there’s a world of PRs to create

no dont try it with belt off/loose, oh… ok, you can.It was so funny and you kep going in for more!!!

Seriously though I love to come see what you are pulling. Congrats:)

You don’t get nearly the gain out of a DL suit that you do a bench shirt or squat suit. I figure I get 20 lb. max with my old DL suit. The way a DL suit works is that you grip the bar and pull yourself down to it. Then the suit helps you break the weight off the floor because it’s under so much tension in that position. The mid-range and lockout are all you.

I think I will have to go back to my old suit for my upcoming meet. This new suit is just too tight. I may be able to break it in over time. Or if I lose poundage, it may work for me. My old suit is pretty substandard. It was given to me third-hand.

I was in a fair amount of pain trying to pull in that suit. I love raw training. And I’ve competed raw in the past and will probably do so in the future. The raw USAPL state records for my age/weight class are very low. Both that 225 lb. DL pull and my recent 155 lb. squat would break state records. I’d be temped to do this upcoming meet raw, but I want to give my new gear (shirt and squat suit, at least) a spin. I may do the state meet next December raw. In fact, I think I will.

Congratz on the newest DL PR - you really should do the state meet raw and get those records up on the board. Then you can be drug tested and put al those rumors to rest… hehehehe

Loved your DL vid. Very funny!!

As far as the knee sway goes, I noticed I had some knee and hip sway on heavier attempts a while back and I fixed it by moving my feet out just an inch or so. (I think someone may have already suggested this). The wider stance wasn’t noticeable, but the difference it made was.

Congrats on the PRs.

Yes, I posted the video because I thought it was funny to watch. I look like a dolt. Maybe because I am?

Regarding the foot placement. Isn’t the pull distance increased by moving the feet out more? I’m hesitant to change anything at this point (six weeks out from a meet), but there’s definite instability in my legs in that position.

hopefully your deadlift suit will stretch out a bit like your squat suit did.

You want humor, go watch the dance I did in my recent suited pull video to try to get it to ride up properly.

I think I will tell people I was dancin to the music.

Nice effort(s) Ms. Snap. I laughed, but let the record show that I was laughing with you, not at you.

Your fans (ok, just me so far) are dying to see you pull your PR weight, then casually step over to your coach’s weight setup, and start to setup to pull -just so we can hear, and hopefully see, his reaction!!! …one can only dream…

You can laugh at me. That’s okay. I know it’s hard to believe, but sometimes I’m funny.

Today’s training consisted of lots of rotator cuff maintenance work. I’ve definitely gotten stronger since I’ve been more diligent about doing it. Also flat bench, DB row, bentover BB row, rear delts, standing lats, DB tris, DB bis, DB floor presses, lateral raise.

Tomorrow is squat day. Time to move to the new suit. Can’t wait. I love to squat.

So? Will you be doing any squats with a Sandbag soon?

That’s awesome that you pulled more raw than in the suit.
Amazing to think what you can pull when you get used to the new DL suit.

Why are you waiting until next December to compete raw? Break state records NOW! =D
