This. I couldn’t have said it better.

Coming off a little low period. Doing better now.

Good. I was beginning to worry about you. Yes, I know that’s stupid…

Sometimes having a short break does wonders for reminding us why we do this and why we love it.

YOU HAD US WORRIED LITTLE LADY!!! Dont do it again :frowning:

hooky is ok.

glad your back.

I thought that was poetic myself. Sometimes a little break is a good thing. Glad you’re feeling better Snap.

Hey Kpsnap glad ur back. If i can help you the bench stuff let me know.

Sorry, you were a little low. You did get quite the shock.

Hope you are well.

I’ve been lacking crackle & pop lately; then I realized it was because Snap was missing.

Even though everyone (obviously) misses your posting, it’s ok not to post when you’re at a low. Just remember to keep lifting -I always feel like I am perfectly capable of walking up to PeteS or MM, and kicking them right in the shins, with impunity, after every one of my (hated) squat sessions. If that’s not a delusional high, I don’t know what is. :stuck_out_tongue:

I so enjoyed this post.

I’m still training.

Here’s the meat of what I did today:

Conventional DL
5/115
4/145
3/175
2/200 (1.8x BW)

Ugly pulls once I hit 200 lb. My coach said “all back.” He then recommended that I stop DLing for awhile after this cycle in order to avoid ingraining bad habits. Not sure why my form has gone to shit.

Speed DLs
5/3/170

Wide-Stance Squats
5/45
5/95
3/5/120

I plan to squat some low rep heavy triples on Monday. I’m feeling really good about my squats and putting my focus on these right now.

Then did a circuit of RDLs, bentover BB rows, GMs, and lat pulldowns. Not making a lot of progress adding weight on accessory work. I think I get so tuckered out after pulling and squatting.

i’m so glad you are posting again. i really missed you too. i hope you know that while it is okay to have some time away if that is what you need to do it is okay to post if you are feeling low, too. people here have helped me through times when i’ve felt despondent, at any rate. but i am something of a natural whiner, and i’m trying to whine a bit less :-/

glad to hear your squats are feeling good. those are some heavy deads!

Yes Mam, doing Coans plan. I have done it before, and I dropped most of the speed pulls completely. I got nothing out of them but a painful lower back pump.

As for the shoulder, I am just riding it out. Just a partial tear, so I dont plan on getting an MRI or anything unless I do more damage.

I’m actually enjoying the speed pulls and am holding my form on them pretty well.

There’s no way to know it’s a tear at all unless you get an MRI. It could just be a muscle strain, impingement, or tendonitis. If the pain continues, get a definitive diagnosis.

So my new squat suit arrived. It’s a Centurian Wide Stance. Not a Super Centurion. I figure I’ve given up 100 lb. there. I’ll give it a go in a week’s time. Too busy right now to mess with it.

I’m continuing with my upper body rehab work. But I think it’s time to stop calling it “rehab,” since the prescribed exercises are probably life-long preventive care ones. They’re boring. But I’m seeing some improvement in strength and range of motion! Hopefully this will translate to my bench and help me achieve at least respectable numbers someday.

Tomorrow is squat day. I’m going to give it a go at the local rec center, solely because it has round plates that I can use to sumo as accessory work after the squats. Sometimes new environments energize me. And other times the foreign-ness about them negatively affects me. We shall see.

Snap, really impressed by the weight you’re using. Good luck with the new suit.

My daughter, gymnast in training.

it looks like your daughter is doing great and improving. so long as its fun.

Same with lifting and you. so long as its fun, and you know it is, you just need to give yourself to the sickness.

yeah

Are you alternating between Sumo and Conventional? I thought about that but I was pretty sure it was a good way to get both of them wrong. I need to stock with one plan most of the time or I get side tracked.

Oh gosh I’m jealous of Greer’s form and flexibility. She’s made great progress since those meet videos you posted! She’s got a lot more power in her tumbling. I’m glad to see her working from a power hurdle. That’s good coaching. There’s nothing worse than watching kids run half way across the floor to do a round off backhandspring. Of course, I have to run that far. Sigh.

Glad to read the prehab exercises are working for you. And that you’re feeling the squat. I’m jealous of that too. I need a serious kick in the ass with regard to squats. I hate them right now. And I hate them more for being the “king of all exercises.” I want to stage a coup d’etat. Deadlifts rule.

On DL day, I pull conventional. But I’m sumo-ing relatively light weights and high reps (for me) on squat day as accessory work. Conventional DL used to be my bread and butter lift. But for some reason, I’ve totally lost my form. Not sure what to do other than take a break from it.

She moved gyms. Went from a Rec Center program to a private gym with a male coach. Her progress in the last two months has just been amazing to me in terms of her power. And her flexibility is amazing. I should video her over-splits.

I used to love the DL. But I’m all about squats right now. Funny because I’m really not a strong squatter. But my form is so spot-on with them. Interesting to me how my love for a certain lift can wax and wane. And how form can just fall by the wayside after years of training. How can this be?
