At a local meet, whatever you want. I usually go down to panties. At a national/international meet, it is skivvies or nude.

Regarding weigh in, I’ve always gone down to underwear but I’ve always been under weight. BB goes all the way. It seems to be more common with the guys.

If I am close, or think I may be a bit over, I get a raging >>>>on… just before, and tie it off. Then I whip my pants of with a flair, and jump on the scale doing the helicopter and singing Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”… usually they will not get close to me… and just ask me what the scale reads…

If I am underweight, usually my Star Wars Underoos… humming the Darth Vader theme…

I went to this meet feeling like I was coming off an extremely strong and successful training cycle. Really felt poised for PRs and USAPL state records in squat and DL. But it didn’t quite go that way.

Weighed in at 110.1.

Warmups went great.

First squat attempt was 187 lb. Should have been an easy opener for me. But I wrapped too soon. Way too soon. Then there was a delay getting my rack height at the proper level and canting the bars in. When I finally made it to the platform, I found that my calves and feet had gone numb. I unracked and just about lost the whole load there. But I somehow managed to recover and get the squat command. Down I went. Down, down, down to the floor. If there’s any doubt in anyone’s mind that I can do an Oly squat in full gear, there won’t be after I get my vid loaded. I never even attempted to come back up. I left the platform incredulous and near tears. I told my coach that I wouldn’t repeat that weight for my second attempt, despite a failed lift.

Second squat attempt was 198 lb. Lower than planned since I missed my opener. Got it no problem.

Third squat attempt was 209 lb. Lower than planned. And I missed it. No explanation why. I’m still baffled other than the fact that observers said I was narrow stance rather than the wide stance I’ve been training.

Bench was strong. Went 3/3 and maxed at a whopping 104.5 lb. I probably could have handled a bodyweight bench.

DL opener was 226 lb. and went up fast.

Second attempt was 242. I used a lot of back on this pull but locked it out no problem.

Third attempt was 253. Broke the weight off the floor and tweaked my back when the bar was about knee level. Immediately dropped the bar. In watching the video, I noticed that the bar rolled out in front of me right before I initiated the pull. Perhaps that played a role in the failure?

I’m sorry to say that I spent a good portion of the meet pouting with disappointment and not keeping things in perspective. I want to believe that it’s the journey that matters. But I’m very goal-oriented and was extremely disappointed in my results. Time for a break.

Sounds like you still completed all 3, just not 9/9. To me that sounds like a great fucking day. Relax, have an adult beverage, and feel accomplished.

snapper is harder on herself than anyone else could be. First meet in gear after a severe shoulder injury, surgery and rehab and she beats herself up.

Pete has it right - snapper, you had a sucessful meet that, yes, could have been more sucessful but that’s what the next one is all about.

i’m sorry to hear that you are feeling disappointed about your performance. that first squat attempt would have freaked me right out. glad you managed to get a good second attempt with it, though. and all 3 benches!! sorry you missed your last deadlift. tlc for you. hope you get to collapse for a bit.
