Weigh-ins at 8. Lifting at 10. Got it confirmed.
Hey what did you find out about the structure of the meet? Does this mean I start at 10 too??
You, my dear, will probably be the first lifter on the platform! It’s a great spot to have. You get to set the tone for the meet. I’ve been in that spot myself a number of times.
I must admit that I’m already a wee bit antsy about the meet. Which is compounded by the fact that I’m home with a sick child for the third day in little more than a week. So . . . I take a new job and think I’ll be able to work mostly while my kids are in school. Yeah, right. Hopefully the fire department is running itself okay.

omg about being first at the meet. I’m so excited!
Sorry about the sick kiddo. What can you do to burn off the energy while you are home? I do a bunch of bodyweight stuff, like punching and kicking the bag, doing lunges, pushups, etc. It’s not likely to tax you too much.

About how many women will be there? In your weight class?
Less than ten women probably. I will probably be the only one in the 52-kg class. There just aren’t that many 45-year-old women who weigh less than 114 lb. who want to competitively powerlift.

I like being the last lifter. ;-)
I’ll bet you do. It’s unlikely I’ll ever be in that position.

Snap, you and PMPM are show stoppers no matter when you go.
Get real. The 110-lb. old woman is not a show stopper at a powerlifting meet! You crack me up. Now PMPM, on the other hand . . .
So. I’m thinking I’ll do some range of motion tonight. JUST WITH THE BAR. I can’t stand sitting around and waiting. I’m a bit nervous already. Happy, nervous energy.

Hehe, you are probably right, that’s not likely to be a huge demographic. But don’t think of it as being a bad thing, think of yourself as being a trailblazer. Face it, you are the next ‘Jackie Robinson’ of The Women’s, Small-Frame, Still Fairly Young, Competitive Powerlifting scene.

I love it and I wish I could be there. Reminds me of the time I ran a 5K and was all excited because I placed in my age-group, till I realized there were like 10 women in my class. Oh, well - it didn’t stop me from playing the Chariots of Fire theme song in my head all week!
