glad you are over your moment. i just remembered one of the other reasons i find you inspiring - because you picked this sport up fairly recently rather than being into it since forever. good for me since i’m new to this stuff.
maybe you should try the splits while deadlifting rather than squatting. then it wouldn’t be so far to lockout.

So I widened my stance even more. Soon I’ll be in the splits when I start.

I would pay good money to see that.
So, this coming week is the pre-meet no-lifting deal, aye? Will this log be silent or angsty? I vote for angsty since I need the entertainment. I will stay tuned to find out.

what is it? 6 days? have you heard anything on the schedule? like maybe when weigh-in happens?
Weigh-ins at 8. Lifting starts at 10. I’m still waiting to hear on the format.

did you call? or did they contact you?
My coach told me. But I just heard from the show organizer this morning that weigh-ins are at 8 with lifting at 9. Egads. That’s not much time to weigh-in, fuel up, warm up, and gear up. Not much time at all. Usually it’s a two-hour window. Gotta get some more verification.
Did tomorrow’s training session today for a variety of reasons. Last lifting session before the meet. This is essentially the warmup sequence I will use at the meet.
Squat
5/45
5/95
4/120
2/135
1/155 wraps
1/175 full gear . . . seating the suit
1/187 first attempt
Easy squat for me.
Bench
5/45
5/55
4/65
2/75
1/85 in shirt to two boards
1/90 to chest . . . seating the shirt
1/95 a little more than first attempt
1/100 a little more than second attempt
No trouble with these.
GMs
3/8/80
Then handled my coach and his squat gear. He tripled 405 today at 71 years of age in a loose suit.
It’s going to be a long four days until meet time.

As you can see, you are far stronger then me on my best lifts… I figure there’s kinda like a .6-.7 factor to compare a machine to free… and even that doesn’t really tell it.
I read a book a long time ago who’s premise was that males are the weaker sex. The arguments were persuasive. Just depends upon definition of “weaker”… Now, when it comes to survival women have it all over men. Live longer, better survival rates from various diseases and etc…
At the time RAMS (Race Across America) a grueling bicycle race was dominated by a women riding for Bianci… Some of the best riders in the world ended up in the hospital trying to keep up with her. Other endurance type experiences showed the unappreciated strength of women. One of the main points was that until we get the participation levels of women to equal males in sports, we won’t really see what they can do…
I’ve shown my daughter some of your clips as an example that women can be incredibly strong and when they get that way, they get rather gorgeous…
I’ve also shown them to my SO. She has been lifting for years as well, and she has just adopted relatively lower rep. Her tendons thank you! And for the record, she can and does ride me into the ground on our bikes.
Hope you don’t mind too much…
You are inspiring and a direct challenge to the heavy weights make you “bulky” myth.
I see it as variation within groups is far higher then between.

I am extremely touched by your post. You obviously put a lot of thought into it. Thank you for that and for your very, very kind words.
