Finally got to see the DL and Squat vids…DL pull was awesome and again, you’ve got more in ya for that 3rd attempt.

I better. That video was of my planned second attempt.

What was with the head/ear massage? Calming technique…lol

There’s nothing calming about it. It is supposed to stimulate some nerve. I find it painful.

What suit are you wearing for DL? Do you think it helps off the floor?

I have a third-hand Inzer Max DL suit. It used to belong to a high school powerlifting team. It definitely helps breaking the weight off the floor. But once I hit about knee level, it’s all me.
I was pretty mentally tired heading into this training session after my first day on the new job.
Squat
5/95
5/115
3/130
2/140
1/155 wraps
1/175 full gear
1/190 a few pounds more than my planned opener
1/200 a few pounds more than my planned second attempt
1/215 FAIL
And herein lies proof that as the weight gets near max, there’s no margin for error with form. The weight felt so heavy that I struggled with the walkout and elected for a closer stance. Instead of really sitting back, I sat down. I got outta the hole but ended up GMing the bar (the forward lurch that gear can cause). My coach saved me right as the bar rolled over my head. Luckily I had the presence of mind to duck so I didn’t get hurt. It all happened so fast.
1/210 PR! And 1.9x BW!
This was a beauteous squat. I was really focused on staying tight and sitting back with a nice arch in my back. I was really happy with this. So now I’m trying to decide whether I should play it safe with a third attempt at 209 or go for 214.5.
210 is good. Go for the 95kg third attempt. Just remember that keeping tight stuff you did to get the 210 and the excitement of the meet will make 95 go up.
A solid day in the bench for me. Which is just great since these days are somewhat few and far between. I worked up to my meet attempts, which will be:
93.5 lb. first attempt
99 lb. second attempt
104.5 third attempt and 95% of BW
Here’s my 104.5 from today:
It went up much easier than I anticipated. And my shoulder felt just fine.
Then did close grips, bentover BB rows, lots of cuff stuff, seated rows, and more tris.
To this layman’s eyes, your bench setup is functionally beauteous.
I think you simply lack meat on your upper body, and perhaps some mind-to-muscle connection. Train like a bodybuilder to build muscle, and with a setup like that, your bench movement is going to shoot up. My .02.

So will you be cutting back on intensity then?.
Yes. My last heavy DL was last Friday (15 days out). But I plan to do first and second attempts for squat and bench on Monday/Tuesday the week before the meet. From past experience, I know my body can handle that.

How do the wrist straps work for you? Been years since I tried them.
These are wrist wraps, not straps. This is a piece of “gear” that is purely psychological in my book. At best, they cue me to stay tight and squeeze the bar.

I think you need to get out more. But thank you.

Here’s a photo of my back. Lots of asymmetry since I had my right shoulder re-built.
