Strong Little Snapper

I thought when LSU asked ‘are you doing wimmenz’ it was a hillbilly way of asking if you’re lezbionic. It’s a bit of a lunch bag let down that it was about a meet

Regarding the deadlift, I’m still pounding away on my own sumo form but I would suggest pointing your toes a bit farther out at an angle. I tried moving mine more straight like you have yours because it gave me more stability but it also made me pull more with my back than drive through with my hips. I also try focusing on spreading the floor with my feet. When I do that, that bar seems to come up on it’s own. I may have just said the same thing as LSU. However, I’m constantly trying to work things out. What works well for me, may not for you.

I loved watching the lift in gear. I had to watch it twice because the first time I had to watch the guy watching you. I don’t think he’s ever seen such a little woman lift so much weight.

Keep pushing your bench. I like the reverse bands too. Holding heavier weight is confidence building. A while ago I did 225 with bands. There’s no way I can do that even in a shirt but it felt great holding it, doing it with bands and not shitting myself. It made me realise that it’s a possibility.

A good laugh here.

Thanks for all the DL feedback. What I really notice is that I drop my hips and then immediately lift them right back up to initiate the pull. Plus, my back wasn’t in a good position.

Here are my wide-stance squats. This is a super wide cage.

nice lifting. do you get blisters under your callouses?

No. I’ve never had trouble with ripping callouses or the like. I guess I’m fortunate.

Yesterday was shoulder rehab day. Lots of cuff stuff. Pec dec, rear delts. Plus some volume flat bench.

Flat Bench
10/45
10/55
10/60
10/65
10/70
6/75

Close-Grip Bench
10/45
10/55
8/65

My shoulder said “enough.” Still low numbers, but I’m okay with where I am. To be honest, I’d be happy to hit 105 lb. in a shirt (95% of bodyweight) at my meet in March.

Highlight of my weekend so far is that my son scored his first hockey game goal. What a thrill. This is his first year playing. He’s 12 and improved so amazingly so far. Gone from being one of the weakest players at the beginning of the season to one of the strongest and fastest at this point.

Great vids, it’s always fun to watch people’s prelift rituals.

12 is late to pick it up, but good for him for putting in that kind of effort.

My son has been skating since he was 3, and on a hockey team since he was 7. He’s a 13-year old goalie, and he plays 6-7 days a week. It’s a great sport - wish I had played.

Goof pressing Snap, congrats to your boy as well. Never played hockey but you always remember the first touchdown, basket, homerun, strikeout etc.

Seriously, I would buy those 125 lb. wide squats off you. How much do you want for them??

They’re not for sale. Sorry.

Speaking of which . . . today’s training:

Squat
5/75
4/100
3/125
2/135
1/150 knee wraps
3/165 in DL suit with straps down and knee wraps . . . too deep
3/170 switched to squat suit with straps down and knee wraps
3/175 full gear

Wide-Stance Squat (to see how it feels in gear)
1/175
1/185

Good powerlifting depth. I have a hard time telling depth with this stance. Thought my 175 wasn’t deep enough even though my coach guffawed when I said that and some guy in the rack next to me said I was plenty deep, so I videod the 185. It’s hard to see my width. But I’m pretty wide. Weight was really manageable.

Reverse Band Squats
2/3/225

Hooray for two plates.

I’ve really been working on my squat setup. Get under the bar. Unrack straight up and stop and breathe. Three steps back. I’m trying.

Sumo DL
5/135
3/5/165

These were much better than last week. I tried to emulate Git’s form in his last vid, where he keeps his hips down and really humps the bar explosively. I was more successful than in the past. Strangely, the first rep was the worst in terms of hip shoot on all the sets. I’ll just keep working it.

With the gear and gear changes and helping my coach with his own squats, I was already almost three hours into training at this point and too tired and hungry to do my accessory work. Tomorrow.

That squat was plenty deep and very clean. Looked about 3" below parallel.

I’m emulated! I am honoured (seriously)

SO…at 26 seconds…whats goin on there?

Ahh, the crotch shot. A girl and her boyfriend in the rack next to me. They knew my camera was going but did a quick plate load. That’s the bonus of watching my vids. You never know what you might get to see!

Wow 185. I’m very impressed.

That is really neat.

Plenty more weight to put on that bar girl! I think the wide stance suits you and you were still a couple inches below parallel

185! That is just SUPER INSPIRING for me to see. Seeing that, I just know that I can do better for myself in the squat rack.

Awesome squat, that was legit.

yeah, really nice lift.

with the sumo stance on squats…

is the compression gear what makes this optimal, or is it feasible for raw divisions also?

with respect to pressure on your hips, i mean.

Real good depth on the squat. So is that a squat suit or did you borrow Joe’s onsie? Also that was a great crotch shot. She has some really good lookin legs.
