Strong is Beautiful

Powerball is a pretty cool little device.

wtg on the money set PR Kimba - you rolled right back in the game.

Nice pressing, and gorgeous pics!!!

Great gams!

Freaking awesome home gyming Kimba! Way to get innovative.

We’d have a winning arm if we paired your bad wrist with my bad shoulder. Funny how the “looking at a watch” motion hurts both of us even though the pain originates in different places.[/quote]

Sometimes its frustrating dealing with these nagging issues, but that is part of being in the game.

Why do you think so?

Thanks for the encouragement. I think progress on MPs will be slow but steady. Microloading the bar would probably really help me on this lift.

Thanks! We were playing with natural lighting, which was challenging but yielded some interesting shots. Lighting is SO interesting to me.

Thanks Masch…one of the things that I’ve gotten out of lifting/leaning out is much better legs. I lost the big thighs and big calves…yeah!

Good work on the Milies Kimba.

yes, great work indeed…

I will def follow suit and get some pics done for the hubby when he is away! I was thinking pinup style, hubba hubba

Thanks Joe. Milies are my nemesis.

MIM, the lure of a photo shoot is a great motivator. I originally got the idea from this Precision Nutrition blog entry:

Today’s training was the first day back to heavy lifting after a couple of weeks of either deload or bodybuilding type workouts. Wednesday is usually my “5/3/1 Off the Reservation” day, but due to an upcoming ski trip, my workout schedule will be messed up. So I tried to squeeze in a “5” day on bench and squat today

Somewhat 5/3/1 – Squat and Bench Day

Back squats (to 3 risers plus step – still need the cue not to cheat depth)
Bar 1 x 10 warmup
75# 1 x 5 working
95# 1 x 5 working
115# 1 x 5 <–money set, not a PR but better form than the last time I tried this weight.
95# 1 x 5
65# 1 x 20

Still struggling to up the weight, but I’m OK with today’s effort.

Bench Press
Bar 1 x 10 warmup
65# 1 x 5 working
70# 1 x 5 working
80# 1 x 5 ← money set, equaled previous PR

I was happy with this too. Not a PR, but after such a long layoff I’m good with picking up where I left off.

Walking lunges
25s 71 steps. Working on getting my back knee lower to the ground. Noted that me holding 50# in my hands is almost half my bodyweight, and felt good about that.

Medium grip Lat Pulldowns
75# 1 x 15
Upped the weight 5# on this one. It didn’t hurt my wrists, so SCORE.

Biceps Curls/Shoulder Press
12.5# 1 x 5

Stopped b/c my left wrist started to twinge. Trying to be smart about this.

Plank - 2 min.
Side Planks - 1 min each

Cable hip adductions/abductions
12.5# 3 x 10 each leg x 2 exercises

Foam rolling my lats (ouch) and using a rolling pin on my forearms and triceps. Ouch, but in a good way.

Probably using a hotel gym on Friday after skiing, so we’ll see what they’ve got that I can use.

Gorgeous sneak peeks Kimba! You look fabulous! And yes… foam rolling the lats is OWIE!!! But in a fabulous “don’t stop!” sort of way =D

Nice workout! I can’t imagine holding 50lbs with walking lunges…correction, I can’t imagine doing 71 walking lunges.

How does it feel to get back into the 5/3/1?

Your nuts to go to the gym after skiing :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks Molly! I really had fun with taking these pix and I’m hoping for lots of good ones when they are finally ready.

Actually, I’d rather foam roll my ITBs than my lats, and that is really saying something…hurty.

If I can do it, so can you.

Good. The BB detour was a nice little break, though.

Well, I haven’t done it yet. We’ll see, although I do love checking out new gyms. I’m usually disappointed, but still.

Nice squatting, using a rolling pin on your forearms is pretty hardcore there.

Pictures look fine. You certain your husband would mind if you married me?

Joe, anytime anyone uses the word “hardcore” about me, I get all happy.

DCA, I suspect he would mind. So, I imagine, would your wife. Too damn bad.

Is this a weight lifting log or a polygamy hook up?

I only ask so I’m appropriately dressed.

Absolutely stunning shots so far!

It might classify as an open relationship. You know: Where my wife opens the door to kick me out.

So, these comments bring to mind the following thoughts:

How do you dress for a polygamy hook up?

and

Since this log is nominally law-abiding, officially there will be no polygamy.

and

That is a dead-on accurate definition of “open relationship”.

Totally!

Lovely pictures!
