Cheers @dagill2 my main man

Looking good so far. Hopefully lockdown is over soon and the training can be taken up a notch

Never thought I’d say this but I can’t fucking wait to bench again.

Or get that first shoulder pumping cable session knocked out.

Ah I feel your pain, mine learned to play it on the piano to make sure it definitely got stuck in my head, fortunately that didn’t last too long!

Every single note is etched into my mind @alex_uk mate

Even the 40,000 remixes. It kills me

My wee girl asks for it constantly and if she doesn’t get it she lets the whole fucking street know

I keep seeing you plug tactical BB and now I’m curious (it’s shiny) probably not for this year given my goals, but I’m so bad at doing forcing myself to do conditioning when it’s not in a program.

How many days a week is it? And is the mass section just squat bench chins?

TB is basically everything you already know about multi dimensional fitness condensed into a system which is incredibly easy to follow.

It’s 6 days a week mostly. Depends on how YOU want to train and how you can plug it into your lifestyle.

If you want to get strong and conditioned then it’s highly recommended.

A base building block is a highly profound training experience. Everyone should try it once.

Mass Protocol which I’m currently following is a separate book. It’s focused mostly on hypertrophy with less emphasis on conditioning which is still there but not to the same extent as in Operator, the general TB training block. The volume is higher as well.

I’m on General Mass for the first 12 weeks. BP/SQ/WPU, 3 times a week. Low stress exercise selection and high focus.

Ultimately for me, it’s a training program in which the older lifter who has say, become a touch jaded with conventional hypertrophy/BB style training, will love as it feels fucking awesome to actually feel ā€˜fit’ as opposed to ā€˜gym strong’

Sounds good (apart from the 6 day thing!) Might pick up a copy and see if I can fit the base building thing in at some point next year - I like the odd challenge.

This is tempting… Because there’s no way in Hell I’m gonna count my calories lol

I think it still requires you to do that

I’ve been pondering lately over my approach.

TB has lit the proverbial fire up my derriĆØre and gave me much needed clarity over where I plan to take my training for the foreseeable.

Thanks to @antiquity and @kleinhound. By jumping onto the TB train themselves, they inspired me to do so myself. Their fervour and consistency has been highly motivating.

I went through a period last year where physique goals took centre stage however something wasn’t sitting well with me.

The regime was too overwhelming and not conducive to my current state of mind which is focused primarily on family and keeping my wife happy.

Throw in a lockdown and it was just fucking chaos.

I’ve actually been through a shit ton in the last year however I’ve never been one to bitch about mental health. I’ve always just sucked it up and dealt with it internally. I lack empathy to folk in the same boat which I know is a major flaw on my part however it is what it is.

This has lead me to begin to streamline the process and eliminate the stressful elements of training.

A spring cleaning so to speak

A conversation with @T3hPwnisher last year about the book Brawn led me down the path to a training style in which I had excelled many years earlier. His phrase ā€˜Siren’s Call’ hit me like a ton of bricks.

The focus on ā€˜volume’, ā€˜effective reps’ and ā€˜MRV’ was just a fucking stress bomb exploding into my regime. Concepts which make sense but extract the fun and convenience out of training.

Even that legendary Paul Carter thread had me in mental anguish after his assertion that pull ups never hit the lats

Hitting the gym was about getting in reps, straining hard and getting some guy time, out the fucking house and away from the family trying to retrieve some of the identity I was losing.

This brings me onto TBMP which has been a godsend.

Focusing on 3 lifts and just watching the numbers creep up has been a call to arms.

The weighted chins have blown my lats and back up to all mother of fucks. Thanks for that one PC

Once this mass block is over then I’m heading into multi dimensional fitness.

The physique game is just a non starter for me ultimately. We’re in an industry full of smoke and mirrors where you’re trying to keep up with some social media fuck nugget who is juiced to the gills. It’s fucking stupid.

Overall fitness is something we can all excel at and it’s pure.

We can all get strong and conditioned to a high degree with reasonable effort and simplistic planning.

Our families will also benefit as we ensure our presence within their lives as we take responsibility for our health. Something that money can’t buy.

Can I get an amen?

Fucking nailed it mate. I sleep 5 hours a night if I’m lucky, I’m 34 going on 50 and I find it hard going getting 2 full lifting sessions a week in, why would i try and train like a juiced up 20 something who’s job is to train and recover right for the perfect posed social media selfie? It makes no sense.
