I’ll give it a whirl. Hopefully it’s not as painful as a 1k or 2k test.
It’s not pleasant, around 45 seconds in you’ll be near 300m and thinking you’re doing well, then you’ll probably hit a brick wall and struggle to hit the other 200m in the remaining 45 seconds.
But it’s over in 90 secs! (Recovery takes longer
)
300! You starting Day 1 of the Iron Wolf Challenge?
I’m going to give it a bash @antiquity my man
Potential issue is next week I have a boys day out arranged where a good few beverages will be consumed ![]()
Absolute beast, man.
Why the fuck did I listen?
I think it was an automated defence mechanism to avoid hard work.
I read the manuscripts and listened to the masters.
They told me I had to do this and not do that
And it got me fucking nowhere.
I had to ‘achieve a calorie deficit’ if I wanted to get ripped.
I had to ‘lift’ if I wanted ‘optimal’ body composition
I had to ‘recover’ or my gains would disappear and my testosterone would tank hard and have me feeling like 80 year old with a Valium habit.
You fuckers lied to me
You lied
How would I ever cope?
This log was the first port of call. You guys helped me pull my head out my ass and start to seek the truth
My truth.
It was time to smash the ‘liftiarchy’
It was time to do what I was told not to.
I started working
Working hard
Cranking burpees like a methhead sweatshop worker, churning out iPhones.
Upping the session volume.
Throwing work in when I could.
Fuck it, what’s to lose? A gram of muscle?
What have we become
JUST FUCKING WORK YOU MOTHERFUCKER
Drop the lifting volume and crank up the horsepower.
Eat what you want when you want
Anyone who says ‘you can’t out train a bad diet’ doesn’t even know what it’s like to train
If I want it, I’m eating it.
What the fuxk happened?
Everything I was told that wouldn’t.
I got lean.
I got fit as fuck.
I got stronger.
This was not supposed to happen.
Now I know the truth. My truth.
Lads and lassies I leave you with this.
Just go for it. We’re Iron Warriors.
We need to push the limits. If not then we’re doing this for NOTHING
Push the limits
Your limit is your truth
Let’s go
Yeah you did!
Lovin’ the intensity in here, as always!
Keep on rolling, man, keep on rolling.
Cheers @SvenG my man
I think Nike already has a copyright on that phrase. I’m pretty sure they’re selling T shirts with that slogan followed by “just do it”.
What’s the weight of that vest? (I apologize if you said it in the video). I have one coming a week from today, to replace one that’s essentially demolished from years of use and a dog chewing on it.
20kg/44lbs @antiquity mate
Inspirational as always!
What goes through your head during the workouts?
Recently I’ve noticed that the beginning is the hardest. Around halfway in, I kind of “check out” and essentially forget to quit
Have you ever experienced this?
Chiming here even though the question was not for me. I find that mentally wrapping my head around a workout makes a big difference. Burpees are tough because just getting through the first 25-50 is tough, breaking that first sweat, feeling your muscles work. Then, I can hit a groove and keep it going. I love the 20, 19, 18… descending ladder, because mentally I tell myself “this set I’m doing now is the hardest one left in the workout”.
I love 531 workouts because the warm up sets are easy, so there’s no barrier to start. By the time the weight gets heavy, I’m already in the groove and ready to push hard.
Reading this, I guess the take home for me is that I’m a lazy guy that forces himself to work hard by using mind tricks.
Who could have fortold that by focusing on getting STRONG and CONDITIONED at the same time, that one would end up looking both strong and conditioned. Fucking marvelous.
No I never check out. If you can ‘check out’ then you need to jack up the pain, in my opinion.
That’s just me though.
I also small chunk the sets. Burpees never get easy man.
As @antiquity puts it, once you’re 50 in, you’re like ‘what the fuck am I doing’
Worse thing is to say ‘only another 250 to go’ ![]()
Small chunk that shit
Every rep is a battle
Win the war
