Hi all,
First off If you see any weird ass things in my post like %u2026 or something like that its most likely a … or a ’ it’s because my mac is acting up… sorry for the inconveince
As you can see I’m a newly registered of T-Nation but I’ve been reading T-Nation for 6 months+. I’ve seen amazing workouts put together and awesome routines from many of people who sound like they know what they are doing. I am posting in the Beginners because I don’t feel like I am an expert by any means or know half as much as most. Now although I do know enough about the body to get me gains in the gym I feel like I can be maximizing my potential more.
I’m 6’4 and 200 pounds.
Right Now I can
Bench 175 for 1
Dead lift 215 for 6
Squat 185 for 4 (form before adding weight?)
Not the strongest but I came from…
Bench 95 for 6
Dead lift 135 for 5
and Squating the Bar
For a while I wasted time just being in the gym thinking that it got me somewhere, when for a while it obviously didn’t? I went away to college got a little bit stronger but it wasn?t till this past summer and past fall/December that I gained a lot… I feel that doing lower reps have been giving me the best gains. With all the workouts on here I have found it very hard to put something together to help me get strong? not amazing looking but strong. Here?s where my question(s) come in… If they are newbie questions slap me please but I?m just trying my best to get stronger.
1.Is there a workout that is pretty much a combination of the pillars of strength?
2.As in working out your back your chest/tris and your legs multiple times a week without getting to fatigued and with decent enough rest? I myself don’t find it east to compile one together.
3.My diet consists a lot of skinless chicken breasts and protein shakes and water with vegetables and fruits mixed in?. I realize I am missing carbohydrates but I do eat wheat bread for energy? what else am I lacking that will help me out?
4.My Physique in high school (I’m a sophomore in college now) was the chubby kind of shorter kid (225 then during swim season got down to 170 my senior year)? I got tall and thinned out but now that I’m starting to focus on lifting more I feel that my muscle stature doesn’t look like that of someone shorter because they look bigger my body is thinned out (genetics)… So with that being said… Do taller people have more potential for getting stronger? I realize that worlds strongest man Pudz was 6’1 and Marunde was taller? but he may be an exception I?m not sure how tall Pfister was.
- Now you may be asking yourself dude 185 for 4 is wimp lifts… well I do in fact go below parallel which brings me to my next question… below parallel that effective? I do not touch my but to the ground but I have been going lower than a decent amount of people I’ve seen squatting (not bragging just asking) and I?m not sure if lower is better or it doesn?t even really matter.
And do taller people have a problem squatting? I’ve heard many times they do and some random short guy told me that we don?t but I thought I’d ask.
- As for supplements I’ve been keeping to Protein (casein at night/whey), Glutamine, and I’m on my last couple Amino Acids? any other suggestions? I’ve been pretty much ok with these I’m just wondering really if aminos are where its at?
To sum up all my questions into a good one for those who don’t want to read all of that…
I’m looking for a workout program to maximize my potential (aren’t we all) but in terms of strength of power points Back/Legs/Chest/Triceps.
Any questions you need answered just ask and if I’m being to much of a newbie please just slap me in the face and tell me to get outta here.
But any help would be greatly appreciated.
