Maybe a stupid question to ask, but how on earth do you manage to have pecs like that without benching? What do you do for chest work (regarding hypertrophy mostly)?

At the moment Iām not doing any direct chest work as it hurts my mobility in the snatch. I did about 8 weeks of boybuilding work that ended 3 weeks ago in which I trained chest once or twice a week using mostly pump techniques.

Sorry CT, butā¦did you mean to say āCANāT argue with repeated successā? (āRepeatedā being the key word). Otherwise Iām confused!
Anyhow, I appreciate the list of coaches you mentioned, since I hadnāt heard of some ā¦so basically you provided some more potential sources to learn from (i.e. āthe CT endorsementā ā keeping mindful that not everything they say necessarily fits your own views.
I just hope for your sake that people who quote you also read your comments right after the list, so it doesnāt start a big argument, e.g. āXYZ wasnāt named by CT, therefore CT must hate him and disagree with him about trainingā , or, āABC promotes handstand pushups and CT listed him as a good coach, so CT must do handstand pushups every day.ā

And to add to my earlier response, donāt forget that at one point I was bench pressing over 405lbs for reps and for a long time the bench press was my main focus, training it 3 times or more per week. My chest was actually bigger so the chest I have now is largely a residual effect of my earlier training.

Heck, I know some physique competitors who got to the national level with 1 year of serious training! If you want to reach the national level in a strength sport, you will have to work much harder and learn more tricks to get there.[/quote]
This is very telling about the variability in competiveness.
All time favorite was the late Bill Starr.
