Strain Cottage Cheese to Reduce Carbs?

Has anyone tried to strain cottage cheese to reduce the lactose content? I’m on the anabolic diet and hate having to give up my yogurt and cottage cheese during the week, so I’ve started straining my plain yogurt to get rid of most of the lactose-containing whey, making it more of a cream cheese consistency (with a higher protein content per serving).

I’d like to try this w/ cottage cheese as well, but I’ve never heard of anyone doing this. Has anyone tried this? Does it just end up a mess of dried-up curds?

I’ve accidentally done it and it does leave you with a bunch of curds. Don’t know about the lactose content, but I don’t know how you’d be able to eat those curds. bleh
