thanks Colin…felt pretty good considering i’ve dropped about 10lbs in the last two weeks.
I use a false grip on all of my pressing movements.

squat night with absolutely NO squats- while the other guys were squatting i decided to do some sumo pulls instead. the eccentric portion of the squat is causing me the most trouble healing. sumo is similiar to a concetric only squat. anyway… i warmed up slowly with really no idea how high i would go. i was happy to have worked up to 545 with no pain. i was tempted to go higher but i have to be smart sometimes.
sumo pulls
135x10
225x10
315x10
405x6
455x4
495x4
545x1
leg press- wide stance, toes pointed out and brought down deep, paused at bottom
-did some straight sets, progressing in weight and then once we reached the top i did a strip set.
hyperextensions with weight
135x6
235x6- got a wicked hammie cramp and shut it down there.
SUMO IS BACK! ![]()
overhead press’n
standing overhead press- dead stop on each rep.
0x10
95x10
135x10
185x10
225x20
pullups
BW x some x 2
circuit
face pulls, rope pull downs, lateral raises, and plate raises
some x 20 x 2
bodyweight is down to 245 now.

with a vengeance…
bench’n- first week of new bench cycle. we will be using the floor press against chains for our main movement.
floor press- straight weight
135x6
225x6
added chains
315 + 110lbs x 1
405 + 110lb x 1
455 + 70lbs x 1
bench press- full ROM
315x10
405x7-feet kept sliding on the plates. next week i’ll do better.
titan ram bench press
405x1
495x1
545x1-very easy
dips
BW x 40,30,30
BW is 244 this morning.
I don’t see any strength drop off, now that your wasting away to nothing.
That crotch shot just made my day.

Does this give you any problems in meets? My Lifting partner once took a false grip in a bench comp and they red lighted him.

nope…no strength lose at all. hopefully i’ll continue to get stronger on my way to becoming a runway model.

I compete in the SPF mostly and a great deal of the competitors use a false grip. some of the more micromanaged feds probably don’t allow it but i stay away from those. my whole setup would get me redlighted in some feds. I compete up on my toes and head up. those two things are a big no…no with them. i could only imagine the horror and frenzy i would create if i competed with a reverse grip like i did at one meet. I’m sure i would have been escorted out of the building and called a “big ninny”.
so… one of the meets i have coming up is a bench only meet. it’s a local meet but it’s been going on for over 20 years and always has a huge turnout. this year there will be a Slingshot division as well. I talked to the the meet director and asked if i could compete in both the raw and slingshot division. I asked if it would be okay to open raw and then take my second attempt raw and then go for a third with the slingshot. He said that that would be fine…i was thinking of doing both raw and slingshot separately but i might be too tired after three attempts raw and then go to the slingshot. anyway… i’m down to 245 now with only a few more pounds to lose. my plan is to compete in the 242’s and open with 500 raw then go 520 for my second and then something like 600 with the slingshot.
that’s the plan anyway…

Is that in pounds? I ask because my Shake Weight doesn’t go near that heavy.
deads- it’s really hard to hold back when rehabbing. i stuck to the plan though and upped my deads a littls from last week.
elevated pulls- mid shin
135x10
225x10
315x8
405x4
455x2
515x1
circuit crap-
hyperextensions, incline situps, reverse curlzz, incline dumbell curlzzz, standing dumbell hammer curlzz.
some x 20 x 3
i also bought a stubby foam roller and in between sets rolled the shit out of my lower back, hams, quads, IT bands and adductors.

it’s in bushells. it’s a southern thing.
thanks again for the advice on the injury. i’ve been rolling the shit out of them and it’s definitely helping. i appreciate you steering me in the right direction.

I’ve been following your log for a while now but with a 405 max bench I never felt like I even had a right to comment but I have to on this. In my 28 years of lifting this is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. Huge numbers for one or two reps is awesome but overhead pressing 225 for 20 reps Unreal!

Sounds fun… I think I heard something about that competition. Btw… I just ordered myself one of the extra strong slingshots last week. Should be here this week so I’m gonna have some fun with that. ![]()
You going to order a slingshot? If that is the same competition I read about you have to use the original mark bell slingshot or something like that?
Also, I’m going to be back in the States for a few weeks at the end of October. I saw that the SPF is having their halloween competition again on the 27th, but the main reason I’m coming back then is because a good friends wedding is on the 27th, so that timing kind of sucks.

i really appreciate you stopping in. you are being wayyy too hard on yourself. a 405 bench is very rare. you should be very proud of that. it took me a really long time to get to that level.
