Meat, question, I just got some EFS Strong bands, when you do reverse band bench press how do you attach the bands to the rack? Do you just tie em to the top, choke em up, what?
If this is a stupid question, my apologies, its meant sincerely. I dont have anybody round here who can show me this stuff.

Pretty happy with how 315 went. I will probably make 300 my opener at the competition. If that goes well I’ll probably go to 320 and hit a PR. That DB benching felt good… pretty pumped up after that.
Lol @ the situps… my abs just kept cramping up after that set, so I tried to do a machine set and I was adjusting the weight and they were cramping up again so I said screw it.
Squats on Thursday then pretty much resting til the competition…
Well that is pretty much it until the competition next saturday. On squats today I widened my stance a little and descended a bit slower trying to keep tighter and not go quite as deep. I think I need to keep squatting like this, instead of trying to rebound more like I have been. I really want to hit that 500 but I don’t think that is happening at this competition.
Edit: Camera was shaking pretty bad, this was right after scott hit that 510 reverse grip bench, lol.
highlight from tonight- reverse grip bench 510x1 +10lb PR. set up a little too close to the uprights and hit the right side one. luckily i was able to still lock it out.
Jowee: I was surprised when I saw your earlier squat vids that you bounced in the hole since you’re a raw lifter. The slow descent does seem to have kept you from going so deep. What’s your weight class?
I hope you guys will video each other’s lifts at the meet so we can see.

Yeah, hope it helps me get that 475 this time… lol.
I’m weighing around 250-255 in the morning right now. Don’t think I’ll be making the 242 this time.
We will video all the lifts… I got an editor this time too so I will cut all the videos together and list the attempts and weight, etc.
JOweeee, that squat looked like nothing. Maybe going wider fixed a few things. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you become as ugly as Scott one day. Dare to dream.
Damn you guys are friggin’ strong in here. 510 reverse grip bench? That’s more than most peoples normal bench. Wow. Both of your squatting is very impressive too. Good job guys.

Yeah I’m suspecting my squat might be a bit higher if I had kept squatting like this. I’m not really sure when I started rebounding like that… but anyway, I just hope to hit at least that 475 at the meet that I missed in the gym.
Jowee… Meat… the “triumvirate” or periodization… good stuff… just started it and it is a nice change, even though I am just starting back. Meat… you are the ugliest guy I know… and that is said with much love brother

Working on gettin the video’s up. Had to download a converter so I can make the files AVI’s which is taking forever to convert them all. After that I’ll edit the videos together and upload em…
I hit 475 on 2nd attempt squat and skipped 3rd… my opener of 450 was super low, and I really need to work on not hitting so low like that.
I opened with 300 on bench and 2nd attempt got 310 and that was hard enough I just skipped 3rd.
I’m really beginning to dislike doing full meets. Maybe I am just being a vagina but when I start lifting at 10am and dont get to deadlift til about 7 hours later I don’t even feel like lifting and its not even fun by then, which I think if it’s not fun something is wrong.
Anyway, I opened with 550 and it went up pretty well… a little slow at lockout, probably from being tired. I moved to 600 and it came off the floor slow and I BARELY kept it moving after my thighs and just a couple inches from lockout it got stuck and I just couldn’t get it. So no go there.
Brute Strength announced they are going to put on another SPF meet in March, which is great cuz its only a few hours from us and gives us about 4.5 months of training til then.
Anyway, we are going to get back in the gym in a few days and get back on 5/3/1. I decided I am going to train for a Push/Pull for the march competition. I am going to make zercher squats(full atg zerchers) my main movement for 5/3/1 squat day. I think that will be good for my deadlift. We discussed it on the drive back and scott has some ideas for accessory work that we will start this cycle. I just gotta figure out what # to use for my max on zercher squats. I’ll go with something on the lower end for starting the first week, and can just up it from there if it is too light.
Didn’t get the 600 in a full meet like I hoped which pissed me off at first but I’m not sweating it now. I’m excited to start training for a push/pull and hopefully blow 600 away in march. If that push/pull goes well I may just stick to doing them. Every full meet I’ve done by time we get to deadlift I just feel like taking a nap… and deadlift is my favorite lift, so it doesnt make for a very fun end to a long ass day.
