Still a Fat Man in a Little Coat

Meat, looking forward to seeing how you like the slingshot. I’m wondering how easy it is to get on and if you think it will carry over to raw benching.

Jowee, crazy deads off a 6’’ block. And all while dieting.

Well I’m not stnading on a 6" block (not sure if you were thinking that or not), the plates are resting on them. It wasn’t too much weight, should be able to do a lot more next time. But yeah… weight is dropping off pretty fast right now. Strength was still holdin up when we benched. We are pressing tonight, but next day is squats so I’ll see how I feel from the diet when we get to that.

Sorry I miss read. I thought you were standing on a block. Still impressive. Congrats on the weight dropping off. Not an easy thing to do.

Thanks. It’s definitely a challenge to drop weight and stick to it even if you see your strength drop a bit. I’m already on day 10, so only 18 more to go… then I’ll get back to eating lots of healthy food. I suppose my reasons are kind of vain but my main reason for dieting is the wedding and honeymoon coming up. Plus, I see all these guys leaner than I am that are much stronger… and it’s all because they control their diet better than I do. I figure there is no reason why I can’t be a 242 and keep getting stronger.

Few db shrugs and curls to finish…

Good night. Not sure where this energy is coming from. I got good sleep last night but was tired all day but woke up when I left work. I got 7x165 last week and 6x175 today so I’m pretty damn happy with my strength right now. 10th diet on the diet and I’m down to 250. I was going to do lunges but opted not to… it’s not following the program exactly but we are squatting on wednesday, and I’d rather my legs not feel beat up for it, since I’m on such a low calorie diet right now.

Oh, and my wrist was hurting because I did something to it batting at softball on sunday. I’ve broken it a few times in the past so it acts up every once in a while. Bout 6 months ago I was doing power snatches and ended up breaking loose a piece of bone again that never really healed from an old injury… so if it hurts there I try to take it easy. Getting the heavy DB’s up just wasn’t agreeing with it. I’m sure it’ll be fine in a couple days. It didn’t bother it to do barbell pressing, so I’m not that worried about it.

it’s actually a Titan Ram. i got it tonight and it slips up the arms really easy. i tried rowing my arms down like i do and couldn’t get them within a foot from my chest. i have no idea how much weight it’s going to take to get the bar down but i can’t wait to find out:)

overhead press’n- my bodyweight is down to an all time powerlifting low of 244. still feeling strong so i’m just going to go with it.

i’m making good progress with 5/3/1 on my pressing movements but for deads and squat it’s not working at all. i can’t seem to pull or squat for reps and get stronger. i’ll have one good day and then the next time i pull or squat and i’m weak as piss. so i’m going back to working up to heavy singles using supramaximal weight through partials, chains and bands. i got really strong, fast on my conventional pull using chains before my last meet.

anyway… here’s what i did tonight.

standing military press

warmup
0x4
95x3
135x3
185x2

working sets
75%- 225x5
85%- 255x3
95%- 285x6 +5 reps- this set felt awesome. definitely the strongest i’ve been and ironically at the lightest bodyweight.

seated overhead dumbell press
120’s x 6,8

face pulls

some x some

dumbell cleans
some x some

seated calf raises
some x some

feel’n skinny and strong.

Just got my series 2 ristos shoes today. They feel amazing… just in time too for squats tomorrow! Can’t wait to try them out. Although, one of the shoelaces is kinda messed up… I’ll just buy some new ones if I get around to it.

you’re a funny guy there pete. you should be happy that i’m slowly becoming a whore as well.

Oh I am happy as a clam. Wait, are clams really happy?

My training partner got one, I think somehow before they even came out. He actually really is the biggest gearwhore in the world. and this is not an overstatement. it’s been verified scientifically. I can’t remember if he liked it or not because I was giving him too much shit for getting a xxxl…

I’m pretty excited to try the whoreness out… hopefully it fits me ok! Weighed 249 this morning! Last competition weigh in was 272…

Soooo I had my squat shoes on just foolin around with them… and was getting down in the deadlift position too. Getting in the deadlift position was WAY more comfortable. For shits and giggles I’m going to see what it feels like to deadlift with them on. Has anyone tried this? I know everyone says to deadlift flat footed… but with the way I deadlift (a lot of quad) compared to others who sit back much further… who knows. I kinda feel like I can sit back MORE with a bit of a heel. Anyway… just rambling, I’ll test it out today with a few light warmups before squatting… just real curious as to what it will feel like.

When you guys get done with the love fest in here, would you mind critiquing at my squat form in the “HT’s What The Hell Am I Doing” thread? Interested in getting all of your sage advice on my form.

Gracias

Nice work going on in here… congrats on the weight drop Joweeand Meat, and nice pressing to!

Man that squat felt heavy walking it out. Even more than I thought it should. Probably because I am dieting and down about 15 lbs, lol. I almost went forward with it though…

So I tried doing some romanians… my very lower back just above my ass seems to hurt some when doing them. Then I tried doing some reps with the reverse hyper we just got, and same thing. It’s not real bad, but it definitely feels fcked up. Nothing feels wrong besides when doing those things though. Could this just be a weakness I have there?

Finished up with the pullups and bench… real short rest times… man not resting is tough, lol. Anyway, the squats were fun.

skwatt’n- decided to do a reverse band cycle of squats. i tested the bands and at the bottom they take 155lbs off and none at the top. i decided to work up to a heavy single that i can then build upon over the next two weeks. bodyweight is sitting at 244 right now.

reverse band squats to a low box

225x3
315x3
405x3
495x1
585x1
675x1
725x1

leg press

some x some

seated calf raise

some x some

felt good doing some back squats again. the weight felt suprisingly good on my back.
