Still a Fat Man in a Little Coat

I hope the shoulder heals up soon. Your new avatar makes me feel like I’m looking in the mirror.

deadlift night - used chains for the first time on deads tonight. i really liked them… much more than bands.

elevated pulls
135x4
225x4
315x4
405x4
495x2
585x1
585 +50lbs of chain x 1- this is a good starting point for these.

GHR’s

BW x 10 x 3

rope rows- we have a pretty cool setup for these. they really work the grip as well as the entire back and biceps.

some x some

close grip pulldowns

some x some

dumbell cleans

some x some

did seated calf raises for sets of 30 between all of the accessory work.

good night… upped my accessory work and it feels great.

Had some fun deadlifting last night. That 585 was much easier than I expected, and the 495+chains went up really fast I thought. Going to add weight to the chain pulls over the next couple weeks and see what I can work up to. The chains weren’t quite coming all the way off the ground, but the weighed more like 27 lbs each anyway and had some chain on there to hook them around the bar, so it was probably about 100 total. Felt good to also do a lot of upper back work.

It was snowing pretty bad last night while we were lifting, and I didn’t realize how bad it had gotten. When I saw it outside we packed up and were gettin out of there real quick. With scott and bill and some other guy pushing my little mazda we made it through like 8-10 inches of snow back to the main road, which was a complete cluster fck.

I ended up going about a quarter mile to the main highway, which was literally a parking lot, so I said screw it and went over to longhorn steakhouse… got a big steak and sweet potato dinner and washed it down with a few killians. I hung out there til almost 11pm and if anything the roads had gotten worse by now, because people were just stuck and wrecked everywhere. I called a friend up who lived close, and the opposite way of traffic, so after about an hour I made it 10 miles to his house, lol. Slept there last night on his couch and feel like a truck hit me this morning.

On the radio they were telling people to be prepared to sleep in your cars cuz no one could go anywhere, and every hotel in the area was booked.

I’m pretty jealous of scott’s big ass truck right now, and my wrangler with a lift and big tires that I sold a couple years ago. Coulda drove around all the idiots just trying to floor it in the snow and just spinning tires and then wrecking, lol.

Oh well… I’m at work now since my buddy lives really close. Just gonna hang out for a bit then head home and pass out.

Wow man, that video is shorter than some of your 1RM videos…j/k!

Looks like an awesome place…is that out near Chantilly? I hadn’t heard of anything new opening up around here…

Your all’s training looks like its going great…im glad to see that…I dont know how I kept missing your new log and this is my first post in here…

Jowee man, your 510 squat was awesome…I better step my game up if Im gonna stay ahead of you in squats…but my DL is finally coming along now too, so maybe that will help haha

Are yall doing the SPF Meet down at Brute in March, or what?

Sup man. Yeah we are doing the Brute Strength SPF meet in March.

Yeah, finally breaking that 500 squat mark felt great. I think getting my bodyweight back up there has helped too. Deadlifts feel a bit harder to get into position now, but I think I got the hang of it last deadlift session. I can’t wait to pull against those chains again next time. I also can’t wait to bench saturday, haha. I wanna hit 4 plates on that foam press!

Enjoying training right now… I need to remember that next time I want to ‘drop some weight’ and just end up wishing I hadn’t. I’m nearing the 275 mark, and I don’t want to go above that, so pretty soon I’m just going to be a ‘275er’ maintaining that, trying to get stronger.

So, are you going to go down to that meet? We could all ride together again. That would be pretty fun again… the brute strength meet was probably the best I’ve been too… just more entertaining than any other during that long day. Plus, there’s an Applebees right down the road!!! lol.

Awesome man…yeah I’m doing that meet too, as a 308 hahah…I’ve finally managed to push up into the mid 280’s after being stuck at the 275 mark forever…all it took was a ton of mcdonalds and oreos to do it! My body just didn’t want to do it cleanly, so I outsmarted it…maybe…its amazing how much easier this lifting stuff is when you stop getting hurt and stop caring if you look like a bikini model…

Im down to carpool, although it might be a caravan cause some of my friends wanna come down to watch the meet too…I think they think its more exciting than it really is, but I’m not one to tell them any different…

This is also about a mile away from BSG:

http://thegratesteak.com/cookurown.html

You can order a beer or some bourbon and a steak…they proceed to bring a slab of raw meat to your table and you go cook it yourself how you want it on an open char grill.

Game. Set. Match.

Wow that sounds awesome. I’m lookin forward to this meet comin up.

bench day- today was a really good training day. hit some good numbers on the different variations and everything felt tight and strong.

275 +50lbs of chain x 1
315 +50lbs of chain x 1
365 +50lbs of chain x 1
405 +50lbs of chain x 1
405 +100lbs of chain x 1 +50lbs of chain from last week

225 +130lbs of chain x 10 - feet up, flat back
225 +130lbs of chain x 10

neutral grip bench press

1-30-11 Bench

Flat BB Bench Press *Foam Press
10xBar
6x135
3x185
2x225
1x275
1x315
1x365
1x405 +20 lb PR

Flat BB Bench *Paused /w chains
2x135 *50 lb chain total, deloading bit more than half @ bottom
1x225 +50 lb chain
1x275 +50 lb chain
1x285 +50 lb chain
1x225 +100 lb chain
1x245 +130 lb chain

T-bar Neutral Grip Flat Bench *this bar is huge… looks more than 45 lbs, dunno.
12x135
15x185

Standing DB Curls
10x25

Lots of bench, and then some more bench, lol. Hitting that 405 was pretty awesome. There is a lot of bounce on that foam thing which is pretty cool. The chains were really cool. We added a lot more chain weight at the end, and I wasn’t sure if I could get 245 with all that chain, but I managed it. After the neutral grip pressing my triceps just felt dead.

I ended the awesome bench day with a set of curls to top it off.

2-1-11 Squats

Safety Bar Squat *feels the same weight as the 60 lb bar
8xBar
8x150
8x200
8x240
6x290
10x240

Leg Press *Close stance
20x4 plates
20x6 p
10x8 p *going too low… butt coming up and kinda hurt something
20x10 p

BB Lunge *Front foot elevated a few inches.
10xBar *each leg… *stopped there…
*legs were pretty done, and I was stepping way too far and was pulling something.

Seated Calf Raise
3x20x2 plates

Kettlebell Swing
2x10x52

Those safety squats are harder than I thought they would be. When pushing the handles up it puts the weight way in front of you, even more so than a front squat. Just got a pump going today. Lunges were hurting under my ass for some reason, probably trying to stretch too far. Gotta ease back into the leg volume, as ours has been pretty low for a little while. Those kettlebell swings were pretty awesome I thought. I was fooling around with a lighter weight and got the form down I think… I was feelin it in the hams and inner thighs quite a bit, and in the abs.

I was going to situps hanging off the GHR, but was afraid my abs might cramp up like last time, and that would not be a fun position to be in when that happens, lol.

overhead press’n and stuff

decided to give the neutral grip bar a try for overhead pressing. it felt a little weird and a bit shakey but i liked them.

0 x 10
110 x 6
150 x 6
200 x 6
230 x 2
290 x 1 x 2

standing one arm neutral grip dumbell push press

60 x 10
80 x 6
100 x 6
120 x 4

rope rows
45 x 2 times
70 x 2 times
90 x 2 times
115 x 1
140 x 1

rope rows for time- these were pretty fun and a great workout as well

curlz for the girlzz

just enough to stay swole.

good session.

I feel like I’d be much stronger if I had a touque.

Thanks for posting the video of the rope pulling. I’ve never seen that and it’s pretty simple. I bet it bags you out pretty quickly.

What happened to Viking Dave? Is he off pillaging various far-flung villages and such?

2-3-11 Accessory

*Superset
Neutral Grip Standing Press / BB Rows
8xBar / 8xBar
6x110 / 8x135
5x150 / 8x225
2x200 / 8x275
1x220 *push press
1x240 *push press

Standing 1-Arm DB Push Press
6x60
6x80
3x100

Rope Pull Rows
45x2 times
90x1 time
*timed (4 times up and down)
~29 seconds first time…
~26 seconds second time…

WG Lat Pulldowns
10x150
10x175
10x175

Had to get out of there after that. Lots of stuff to do…

That neutral grip pressing was pretty fun. It’s kind of hard since it’s a little more infront of you than a barbell, but I thought it was easy to hold in position. The rope pulls were fun… I ended up beating scott on the second time by a second or two. I was really putting my arm length advantage to use, and stretching each hand out real far on each pull. Although, I couldn’t even budge more than 2 plates off the ground, but scott and bill both did 3 plates a few times… sob.

a skull cap and a beard increases strength by 51.5896%. it’s tru… i read it in a book.

definitely got my swole on doing them.

Strength plus commentary = good videos! What is the strength increase for just the skull cap, for those of us that are beard-free?

If you can’t grow a beard, I believe it could have the same effect letting other body hair grow long and unruly. You’re just limited on the shorts you can wear.

ironically, i’ve always been really good about MANscaping and it hasn’t affected my strength levels adversely. that’s why i try and compensate by wearing a skull cap at all times and having some sort of facial.

never been a fan of grass on the playing field.
