How is improving performance in a sport throwing it into disrepute?
because you can’t compare records from the past to records of today. To many people THAT would be disreputable (not to me, but I htink htat is the problem that a lot of people have)
Are you kidding me? Professional sport itself is an unhealthy pursuit. How many former AFL, NFL and League players are there with serious permanent disabilities brought about by their participation in one of the three sports? LOTS. If maintaining the health of the athlete was really the concern of the public, football ought to be banned outright.
Of course, such a position is ridiculous since the players are adults who are allowed to choose what they do with their bodies, whether it be play football or knit. And they OUGHT to be allowed to choose what to put into their bodies as well.

If anything, I would think that points 2 and 3 are more closely related, because seeing a bunch of athletes hurting themselves to be the best will make the sport be seen as a less than healthy pursuit.

Always enjoyed the suggestion of splitting games into drugs restricted and drugs unrestricted. Let the viewing public decide which one they prefer.
I realise this isnt going to cure cheating, but it may cause it not to be cheating anymore.

now THAT is an idea i like. It opens itself to arguments that the sport will be watered down and that the best wont compete against one another, but hey, at least it allows for personal choice

Yeah, if i had a choice of watching the drug olympics vs the non drug olympics - i would watch the drug games for sure.
Now, for games like football and that, I can’t be too sure until I have actually seen what kindof game that a bunch of guys juiced up to the eyeballs are going to play.
As long as assholes keep paying top dollar for jersey hats and other stupid shit to “support their team” resulting in these guys making millions for just playing a game then they will look for an edge. They’ll keep finding a new one to, you can’t stop progress.
Good job on another interesting thread, Sleepy, you fucking troll! lol
I just wish the organizations would just go back to pretending that doping wasn’t rampant. It’s retarded how they parade out each star who gets caught like it’s some huge victory when everyone else is on something as well.
Take the NHL, for example. Most of the players are on all kinds of stimulants. The fans are blissfully unaware of this and the NHL knowingly turns a blind eye. In fact, when Dick Pound went on a big rant about doping in the NHL, most fans were laughing at him like he was retarded.
Ignorance is bliss. Legalize everything to level the playing field and just enjoy the damn competition already. Football players are play at superhuman intensity, so they should be allowed to heal at a superhuman rate.
“I’d like to argue. I’m against steroids, and I’m going to post my anti-steroid opinions in the STEROID section because I know I’m going to bait guys that are pro-steroid into a never-ending, no-one-wins debate.”
How many of you guys are out there? Don’t you have anything better to do with your time?
I’m afraid the more we take the bait, the more they are going to throw out the line.
We are never going to convince the naturals that steroids can be used intelligently. Just like they can’t convince us that steroids are the root of all evil.

Tickets cost a fortune. When I’m seeing the second game played in two nights I still expect to see the same quality of play by both teams. Until the NHL (or any other league for that matter) starts giving discounts when one of the teams has that not-so-fresh feeling, I will not only tolerate, but demand those guys take whatever they need to in order to recover and get themselves “up” for their next game. Next year I think I’m going to the season ticket holders meeting so I can make this statement.
THERE IS NO “PURITY” IN MODERN SPORTS; IT’S ENTERTAINMENT. SO FUCKING ENTERTAIN ME AND STOP THIS BULLSHIT.
Frankly, i think ALL sports should be anything goes. Right now it’s the athletes doctor/chemist vs the drug testing do gooder. The rules haven’t stoped anyone from using, they have just made it harder and forced athletes to take untested stuff and stuff that is harder on the system.
A couple olympics ago, all three metalalist in the shotput had previously served suspensions, do you really think they decided they did a bad thing and quit LOL. They just beat the fing whiz quiz…
