Steroids Impede Bone Repair?

If one breaks a bone while on the juice, could that affect repair of the broken bones. I have read that using steriods while growing is a mistake becuase it can impede normal growth. The reason I ask is that I broke my clavicle about 3 weeks after finishing a deca cycle. Now, 2 1/2 years later it still hasn’t recovered. I am training again and coming close to my previous “clean personal best”. I would like to do another cycle, but I’m planning surgery this year (don’t know when yet) to have the clavicle repaired. I don’t want the steroids to impede recovery. Does anyone else have any experience / knowledge regarding this?

hey bro, and welcome to another fellow Canadian, btw - Anabolic steroids will only help bone repair. They increase osteoblasts - the stem cells that are responsible for new bone growth, and decrease osteoclasts - cells that break down bone.

The reason why steroids can stunt growth in people that are still growing is that the epiphyseal plate - (growth plate - the site of new bone growth) at the end of all bones contains estrogen receptors, which when bound with estrogen - d/t either estrogen produced by a maturing female, or estrogen that has aromatized from a maturing male’s testosterone - signal the epiphyseal plate to close over.

Thanks for your feedback it is appreciated. Your response also helps me to put to rest the idea that my drug history may have been responsible. I asked the surgeon and got a vague “steroids are never good for you lecture”. If it were you, would you use a light cycle to prevent muscle loss post-recovery? One surgeon has told me that a 12 week recovery period is necessary.

One of my friends broke his ankle, while on AAS (playing sports) and was off working out for 6 weeks. He continued to used the entire time and didn’t lose any size at all
