Has anybody tried static contraction training as written about by John Little and Peter Sisco? What was the result? They claim to have had good results and the “science” to back it up but it is a pretty radical approach. Any comments would be appreciated.
SCT works as a supplement to training, but it’s neither a new idea nor a cure-all.
I got REALLY strong in the static positions I trained for, but the carry-over to full-range movements was next to nil. It did NOTHING for the bottom of my squat. I gained about five pounds.
Honestly, I like going to gym and the program demanded really long rest periods between workouts. I might have been able to do it if an 800 pound static contraction on the leg press carried over to a 500 squat, but to no avail.
