Starting TRT Injections. Any Issues I Need to Be Aware Of?

After getting a large blood panel since I was diagnosed as having low T so I have started getting injections. So far my brain fog is mostly gone, memory improved, allot more energy, sleep better, and even less depressed.

My question is what issues should I be aware of when taking TRT? I’ve read about guys gaining a bunch of water weight in the 1st couple months and want to know about any additional issues I should be aware of

I am lifting 5 times a week and addressing my diet issues. Currently I’m 6’ 240lbs and ~25% body fat. I’m working to lose fat now and hoping the TRT will help along with the new diet

How long have you been on TRT?
What’s your protocol?

You may not feel ideal for the first couple months (energy, libido, overall well-being). After about a month your natural testosterone production will cease and you’ll be relying primarily on what you are injecting. After about 8 weeks you can look at adjusting dose depending on labs and how you feel.

6’ 240lbs @ 25% bf? Hard to believe you were low T with those stats. That’s a huge amount of muscle.

I was 6’-0, 280, 23% BF (according to the Hebalife lady and her calipers) and a National level Strongman competitor, at a total test of 280. Test doesn’t do everything.

Well for what it’s worth, I was 5’ 8”, 212 lbs and ~25% BF and I looked like a fatass!!

Can’t remember the exact number but T was in the tank.

That puts you at 215.6lbs lean body mass. Doubt that possible natty.

Not sure how you did your math there, but 240lbs - 25% (60lbs) = 180lbs, and that’s not accounting for bone mass.

Edit…sorry…I just realized you were replying to @hardartery and not the OP.

I was replying @hardartery. 23% at 280.
280 - 23% (64.4) = 215.6

Lol…see my edit. I realized that just before you replied.

Well while we’re showing how big our dicks are, I was 6’, 148lbs of no muscle whatsoever.

Doubt all you want. Themz the facts. Although it should be noted that my bone density scan put me at a fairly ridiculous density, so that would be part of it. I am on my way to bigger with more lean mass on TRT with a total T around 860. At 47 years of age. Oh what might have been if I had only known.

Yes I do carry allot of muscle for someone with low T but that’s not my question.

Now that I started TRT is there any side effects that anyone here has experienced and any pointers to avoid some of the issues

Apologies, I didn’t meant to derail the thread. @dextermorgan already asked you a couple of questions I thought you were going to answer.

FWIW, I still felt small next to a lot of the gassed guys. You’d be surprised how big some guys really are in person.

What is your dose? At regular medical doses the most common side effect is probably acne. Try not to worry too much about everything else. A lot of what you read in terms of negative sides happens at mega doses.

Adjusting to the therapy comes with its own side effects but they are difficult to predict. Some people report sweating, anxiety, and possibly temporarily feeling worse than before you started. There are a ton of positives as well.

I had my 1st shot on Monday. Not sure about the protocol so I’ll ask. My T was 352 so the dr is try to get me around 1100

Rwr410. The doctor said I’m on a fairly low dose. He said he wants to “top off the tank”. Mostly to work on my brain fog and extremely low energy

Your “protocol” is the amount of T and how many shots a week. It sounds like you are getting one shot per week. You need to find out how many mg of T that is. If it’s a .5cc shot but the medicine is 200mg per cc, then you are on 100mg a week.

That is the standard starting dose. If he is starting you “low”, it could be less than that. If it is 100mg or less, then you need not fret too much about the sides.

It’s always worrisome starting on any new medicine and you may get some sides, but they are generally nothing like sides you would get from other medication.

You cannot top off the “tank”. Your system will shut off its own production even with a small amount and you will end up worse then before starting if too small of an amount injected. Hopefully that is not what he literally meant.
