Hi all,
I could use your advice. Due to a back injury in the gym, I have not worked about for about two years, and have lost lots of weight and muscle mass. I am now able to start working out again, but it’s been so long since I’ve worked out heavy, I need to start slowly. Can anyone please recommend any workout program from T-Nation? Given the long absence from the gym, I feel like a complete newbie, although I’ve been training for years. To anyone who can offer advice…thank you very much. It’s appreciated.
do jim wendler’s 5/3/1. You can buy it at www.elitefts.com. Jim comments on a thread about his workout in the Strength Sports forum, so you should check it out.
It concentrates on form and lighter weights in order to get stronger. so long as you start real light (follow the instructions, they are very specific) and stick with good form, you will be doing work on the 4 big compound lifts, bench, squat, military and deadlift. I think it might be perfect for you. you might post in that thread with your specifics, and ask Jim what he thinks. He is very responsive, as you can see if you read the thread.
I think it would be good for you because it concentrates on the big compound lifts, which works more muscles in less time.
my $0.02. good luck, and Train Harder,
