Starting Out Slow

This was Thursday. First, several warm-up sets, then these work sets:

Back squat 145x3x5
Bench press 110x3x5
Deadlift 175x1x5
Inverted rows, 3 sets of 8

This was Saturday: After several work sets of each,

Back squat 150x3x5
Overhead press 75x2x5, 70x1x5
Deadlift 180x1x5

I finished with chin-ups, 4 sets of 8, with 40 lbs assistance.

I tried for 75 on the press, but my form on each set was pretty bad as I struggled it up, and on the last set I just couldn’t do it at all and had to scale down.

Monday I just went for a thirty-minute jog, easy, steady pace, probably a bit more than three miles.

I hired a trainer to coach me once a week on my lifts. This what happened when I consulted him Tuesday:

Dumbbell incline press, 25x3x8
Front squat 105x3x5
Lots of practice deadlifting with 95 lbs
Several good mornings with a 30 lb bar

This was Saturday:

Back squat 155x3x5
Bench press 115x3x5
Deadlift 185x1x5
