Starting Advanced GVT

Guys and Gals…

I have been a avid reader of T-Nation for quite some time and have decided to join up on the forums for some options in my training and nutrition.

Background:
I am 32 years of age and stand at 6’ 7". I played football and basketball in High School and went on to play some College Basketball. I have 10-11 years gym experience, but never took the nutritional side seriously. I stopped working out when our first child was born back in 1999. I was still active, but not in the weight room.

I returned to the weight room in Dec. 2006 weighting in at 236 with a 36" waist and unknown BF%. Since then I have pretty much done it on my own…I bought the ABS Diet Book and patterned my diet after its advice. I do not have a before picture, but here are 2 taken about 1 month ago.

My 1RM on Bench went from 225 to 315 and now its at around 285-295 (Shoulder tendinitis slowed my down a bit) better now. Squat is 315(After my normal workout). I currently weigh 215 with 19% BF(so the scale says)…would like to see 225-230 with around 10-12% BF.

Nutrition: (Yesterday)
0630 - Protein(43g) shake with milk, 3eggs
0715 - 1 orange
1000 - cup of celery, 1 orange
1200 - chicken breast w/steamed vegs (peas, peppers, potatoes)
1415 - 1 orange
1600 - Pre-Workout Protein(30g) Shake with Milk
1730 - Post-Workout Protein(43g) Shake with Water
1900 - Turkey Burger(No Bun) w/ spinach salad w/cheese, 1whole tomato, celery
2130 - Protein(43g) shake with Milk, celery and natural peanut butter

Any nutrition advise would be appreciated. I want to take full advantage of the Advanced German Volume Training to get the 8-10 pounds of lean mass, but I know that nutrition is key and I will be the first to say I am not an expert on nutrition.

Thanks in advance…

For nutrition read the following articles:
Massive Eating by Berardi (4 of them)
Nutrition for Newbs by Thib

the links to those can be found in my profile under my favorites.

Also consider increasing your protein intake to 1.5-2 grams per pound of bodyweight. Right now you are around 1g per lb BW.

Does anyone have first hand results with this workout. Would be interested on your results if you have.
