Starting a Relevant 3rd Party

The only way you’d have viable third parties would be to change the system to proportional representation. I can’t think of any FPTP system that doesn’t result in a two party system.

I think you’d need to amend the constitution to achieve that aim, assuming you desired it. Chances of that are what? Just south of 0%?

Many of my fellow Americans seem not to understand this.

That’s a malady shared by many British people too.

Definitely remember him now. Some very interesting thread titles in the past.

Yes. A Zeppelin795 by any other name is just as dumb.

Did he mention that he was leaving at all? Or did he just drift away with the wind? I noticed he hadn’t been posting and reached out to him in his log, but never heard back.

Seemed like he just drifted on.

I mean it (like term limits and other changes people talk about wanting to make to how we choose leaders) gets lip service but not much more. As a country I think we often say a lot that we simply don’t back up with actions. We could demand these changes but I don’t see it happening.

We can’t even get a good chunk of the population to wear a mask during a pandemic for 2 minutes while they enter a gas station. And many of those people claim to be pro life. If you can’t band together to take easy steps to help others during a pandemic the idea of us getting together to get leaders to change something like this seems insane.

Besides the 2 parties would fight this and they are extremely good at convincing people some things. See a capitol invasion over a stolen election without any proof as an example.

Could a state pass a law giving its senators and representatives term limits?

Apparently not, currently: U.S. Term Limits, Inc. v. Thornton - Wikipedia

I liked Thomas’ dissenting opinion.

But what fun would it be for them if they didn’t get to invent powers for the federal government and themselves?

Scotus pretty much legislated.

Of course it did.

I think I did accuse you of that once!

I stopped posting across pretty much all social media for the last few months. This had much more to do with deaths in the family than anything else. Putting my thoughts out on the internet wasn’t what I needed to be doing.

I squatted tonight for the first time in a while. It feels good. I feel good. That’s a big improvement over what’s been a particularly harsh winter season.

At some point I’ll resume posting in PWI to affirm my allegiance to the victors of the most cut-and-dry election in US history. I look forward to heavy-handed, top-down censorship from multi-national tech companies that command hours and hours per day of screen time for the average person. It is a desperately needed measure to ensure that no additional white supremacists are emboldened by hate speech. I’m also working really hard to be less white, but I can’t yet claim to be as pure as white abolitionists. I have more work to do. More self-loathing celebrity montages to make and post to social media to spread awareness of my progressiveness. I’m ready to join forces with the upper middle class white liberal women to eliminate systemic racism once and for all, as only white people can do.

See you all soon.

I’m very, very sorry to hear about the deaths of loved ones. I am glad you got back to squatting and training though, it’s a good way to clear the mind. Chin up mate.

I guess I better start taking Xanax and doing deep-breathing exercises now…

Relax. Have a Woka-Cola and smile. A composed President Biden’s at the helm. Here’s a clip of him connecting with people of color in a way that only Joe Biden can.

If my thoughts and jokes about politics are actually causing you that much anxiety you should stop letting me live rent-free in your head. Evict Trump while you’re at it. We’re just people, don’t let us occupy your thoughts needlessly.
