“Lets Burn”
I’m about to go install SC 1. This is probably the only game I was really into apart from Battle Field 1942 and Vietnam.

I think you have to be accepted into the Beta.
“Note: you must have a Battle.net account with StarCraft 2 beta access to play this. The beta will be unplayable if you have not been accepted into the SC2 beta.”
To be able play in the Online Closed beta on Bnet, YES, you Must be invited. However, you still can download and install the game.
A Dev. team has just released a launcher that loads the game in sand box mode meaning you can build buildings and units. However, You cannot play against the computer yet. This is the next best thing to playing the game ie testing the units and how they work etc…
They are now working on creating AI (playing against computer) and emulating a server for multiplayer
I DL,ed the thing, and do can I play alone now?
For everyone that wants to play offline in sandbox mode. This is to play offline, by yourself, no playing against computers, no multiplayer.
Download and install the beta client.
Download Launcher with maps (20Mbs):

Download only the launcher:

To get more maps:

Notes:
-When the load completes you will get a message as if the game ended, just click return to game.
-The races are random, so just keep on restarting to get the race you want to practice with.
-Thanks Lazy town for the loader.
Count me in for the T-Nation clan
Thx Azn, but I’ll wait ![]()
In 2v2 I’ve been doing really well with my brother, were in the highest league with about 15 more wins than loses so I’d say were off to a great start.
In 1v1 I haven’t been doing so hot lately. A lot of very good players have been e-baying the beta from people that didn’t like the game, or realized that it sells for 300 dollars. So occasionally I get paired up with semi professional players and they just kick my ass.
I’m sharing my account with a friend and granted I do play it a lot more than he does but hes not very good. So for every game I win he might lose 2 so every time I play it’s 1 step forward then 2 steps back.
Anyway the game is fantastic, I really don’t feel like going into detail about the whole thing considering there is wayyyyy more people out there doing the same thing who are much better at the game than I am and providing a lot more information.
www.teamliquid.net is the leading site for Starcraft tournament information and it also happens to be the best site for Starcraft 2 replays and strategy(go figure)
anyway if anyone else is in the beta go ahead and toss me a PM and we can play a couple of games maybe learn a thing or two from each other. Anyway cheers guys.

x2
Follow all instructions I posted before about sandbox mode…
AI - Medium (difficulty) patch:
http://www.multiupload.com/X6UXVKYDYJ
Unrar and read .txt file follow instructions
Download only AI enabled maps here:
example:
After downloading AI maps… Open up lazylauncher.exe and load the AI Map.
Again, race is random, but you will be able to play against computers… Lost temple map has about 3 computers… Harder AI patch is currently being worked on.
Bnet Server emulation is also being worked on.
GLHF!
I can verify, AI vs Player works!

you’re welcome.
The mod works like a charm. Only two complaints are that the AI is rather simple (only one out of three opponents actually built attack forces) and I seem to be unable to save the game.

Who hasn’t played one of the best RTS game of all time. I think the first SC was released when I was in HS. SC was all I did when I came home from school. I will probably pick this one up, as well as Diablo III…
T-Nation clan anyone?
I vote for the T-Cell! Watched all teh demos online and I’m pretty excited. What a great game.
SPAWN MORE OVERLORDS!
I’ve been watching those streaming live gamnes all afternoon, this game looks awesome. There’s a TON of new stuff, new unit abilities, etc… I’m worried it’ll be like learning SC all over again.
It also looks like you’ll have to really tune up your micro managing skills, something I always sucked at anyway. But with all this new content I might actually be more frustrated playing this game than actually having fun.
And the new Zerg voice sucks, it’s too snake-like and female. The old one sounded menacing.
for those that’ve played, how much better is SC2 than SC? i’m more of an rpg fan so i cant wait for the new WOW expansion. maybe will pick up D3 too!
Join the army, they said. See the world, they said. I’d rather be sailing…
To me its essentially the same exact game, with a few new units/abilities sprinkled in.
But it works for me because the original was so good. As a previous poster stated, the Zerg voice is “terribad”
