Standing Out in a Crowd

Their is nothing but positives to come out of pumping iron. So why not!!!

Everyone here wants to gain as much muscle as possible. But what should the motivation be for doing that? People always work better when they have direction and purpose.

So, should the goal be to stand out in a crowd? I was wondering about this because I like to do things for myself. I don’t live through the eyes of others and it seems to me that comparing oneself to strangers in a crowd seems kind of empty. I’d much rather look at my stats and see 10 lbs gained since last year and an inch off the waist, than seeking approval from Wal-Mart shoppers.

What do you guys think?
I think you’re shitting yourself and you should seriously stop.

Of course you give a shit what other people think.

I was just a boy when I decided that I would do whatever it takes to have an impressive and strong body.

I come from a family of strong and martial men. Some of them were also very big. My fathers respected fighters and big strong men. They often praised my older brother that was both bigger and stronger than me in years and genetics.

Without a doubt the recognition of the senior men in my life was a big part of why I decided when I was a very small boy to train for strength and size.

Just as strong was my personal desire to resemble a hero, especially Conan. I wanted to look in the mirror and be inspired, like I was when I saw Arnold in all his glory.

When I became older and more aware that women also appreciate such things for their own reasons it was just more fuel for the fire.

All recognition aside even if I was the last man on earth I would still strive to improve the image the mirror holds both without and within.

How many young guys HAVE TO train in tank tops? (or wife beaters, or t shirts that are a few sizes too small) How many of the really big, and obviously experienced guys walk around like that? They’ve gotten over it. Sure, I’ll wear a sleeveless shirt on days I’m training arms, but that’s about it. And I’d never want to be caught walking around every day in a tiny shirt that screams ‘I need attention’, or a tank top showing off how hyooge I am. If anything, I don’t like the attention, simply because so many ‘newer’ trainers (I been banging away for 15 years now) tend to define themselves by their physiques. While that may be cool for some, it’s just not me (not anymore -lol)

I want hot babes to touch me.

i started out just for the vanity of it, and even though I’m still a beginner, its shifting to now just because I f**king love lifting weights.

nah man that shit is never fun for me. i look at it as something i have to do. i like the results i get, thats why i guy, if it were just about lifting the weight id do powerlifitng or something. i do it for the after effects: the looks and the feeling of accomplishment.

Are you kidding? Would you be lifting, if it did not make you stronger or bigger? I definitely wouldn’t.

I enjoy every minute of it. I wouldn’t still be lifting after all these years if I didn’t like it.

…but maybe I’m weird too.

I enjoy lifting… but my main reason is to get to a stage where I can wear a suit and people go “wow, that guy’s huge!”

I enjoy every minute of it as well…but its because I know I’m making myself better. Stronger-both physically and mentally- bigger, faster, more powerful and more elite.

Chris makes a good point…if all those benefits occurred without the need to lift, you bet your ass I’d be spending more time with friends, hot naked girls, my guitar and being outside.

Of course there is enjoyment in it, but the frequent posters probably lift for more than just a pass time. The bigger guys got that way because they train even when it isn’t fun.
what like running marathons? last i checked that didnt make you big. You dont mean squats and deadlifts do you, because those are the most fun lifts there are, the most challenging as well, but still the most fun.

There are some negative things that come with it, and I’m sure a lot of us somewhere have had to make some sacrifice along the way to get in training sessions, or stay on their diet.

The real enjoyment is like many have said, being huge. Personally I want to be the guy everyone looks at and things “oh damn” I want to be strong as hell and look that way, not just for others but myself aswell. Its a nice feeling to know that if a fight broke out, or zombies poped out of the ceiling that I would be least likely to go down.

The reward is the main reason I lift, but I wouldn’t be doing it if I hated the activity.
I hate standing out though I stand out a lot since I’m not only tall but big. I do it because its fun, relaxing, and its makes me a better athlete in all sports and I love to compete!

thats a good question. I like overcoming the challenge of lifting the weight, and if the weight didn’t go up, it may not be as enjoyable to do the same weight over and over again. It is exta satisfying to lift a weight that has been defeating you for a long period of time, and even more so to start repping something you couldnt even lift before.

But for everyday life, I dont need to be huge, I dont really like attention(except from pretty girls), but being strong is really appealing to me.

Well I started lifting when I was fat so I used to enjoy cardio more than lifing. Now not only do I hate cardio, I hardly do it and now I’m trying to get bigger lol.

Who are all of you people standing out in a crowd…? I currently weigh 245 lbs and for a while was upwards of 290, but rarely do people ever give me a second look. I think you all might imagining things, to be honest

I already stand out in a crowd because of my height. I’m a head taller than most people to begin with and even though I’m not huge by my standards I’m much bigger than the average joe so yeah… standing out is fun.

All sexually attractive woman please report to isle five to see the ripped guy who will happily accept all your phone numbers

I like cardio…I would like it more if I could run a 5 minute mile…just for the novelty of it…my best so far is 11:42 lmao…im very fat >;o

for me it’s actually not about showing off, I prefer working out in something sleeveless, even better a wife beater (usually black though), as it’s lighter than a t-shirt and breathes better.

I love my Biotest shirts but working out in them sucks ass. I can actually vent around the neck and I can feel the heat just escaping.
Being hot actually is a good way to decrease performance
